When you dial H-E-R-O on the magic dial you turn into a random superhero. Cloud Herder! The Iron Snail! Bumper Carla! Miéville's unbridled creativity is almost too much to handle, but the more this strays from a traditional superhero narrative the better it becomes.

The issue where Nelson can't leave the house to stop evil because he dials a culturally insensitive hero (Chief Mighty Arrow) was pretty great.

Perhaps I might have maybe sort of swung into the Things From Another World comics shop while I was out and about today??? #bookhaul

Let me tell you about the comic I'm reading.

In 1966, DC introduced a comic called Dial H for Hero about a boy who turned into a random superhero by dialing HERO on a magic phone dial.

In 2012, after the line-wide shake up of the New 52 stopped China Miéville from taking a swing at Swamp Thing, DC let his boundless creativity loose on Dial H.
