On a serious note, not much of the psychology described in this book really surprised me, but it did debunk some common assumptions about conspiracy theories (e.g. Lower intelligence).

I am impressed by how understanding the author is of the lure to believe in conspiracy theories. It's so easy to fall into the trap of flatout dismissing them as crazy, instead of examining the psychology. Especially when you have an investment -- e.g. As a biologist with an interest in microbiology and human health, the vaccine scares drive me wild. I can't often get past the irresponsibility of dooming others to die because you fear a shot.

I cannot be the only person thinking this - every new follower from the past week has gotten the side-eye of "Are you my Secret Santa???"
