A post for #foodandlove #ethiopia edition!

This is my favorite Ethiopian cookbook, I‘ve used it for years. The lists of ingredients in recipes are short, provided you have access to berbere. Instructions are easy to follow too.

The photo includes a traditional coffee vessel and textile from Ethiopia. Coffee is very important culturally & economically. Ethiopians claim its origins, along with the birth of humanity. Amazing, yes?!

Leftcoastzen Nice photo! Always nice to see a well loved cookbook. 4y

Tamra This is the only shelf; I had to demote books to basement & floor after kids. 😌 8y

Pickpick

This is my well loved copy and my favorite. I had it out because I made Habasha food last night & my kitchen is still a disaster. 🤗😋

ReadingEnvy I loooove Ethiopian food but I've never tried making it! 8y
Tamra @ReadingEnvy it really is easy! I recommend buying the berbere and spiced butter in an Ethiopian shop if you have access. Go in and ask and they'll be happy to help. 🤗 Otherwise, you can order the berbere online. 8y
ReadingEnvy @Tamra we have zero Ethiopian restaurants or shops here (sad!) but I'm going to Baltimore in a few weeks and hope to remedy it. 8y

Tamra @ReadingEnvy 👏🏾 You should be able to travel with the butter - Ethiopians bring back serious amounts of it on the plane. They say it tastes better than what is made here. Ziploc & freeze the leftover berbere and butter for future use. You are going to have to learn to make injera! That is my own new year resolution. 8y
ReadingEnvy @Tamra first you need an injera pan!! 8y
Tamra @ReadingEnvy 🤣 My husband got one for me 3 years ago. 8y
Tamra I have no excuses. 8y
