From the moment Chris and Julia meet they are dangerously close to love. It is 1937 and Hitler's manic oratory is driving Germany towards war and fanaticism, so when the independence and freedom of thought that Chris finds so attractive in her leads Julia to emphatically reject the Nazi regime, it is not long before her courageous stance brings them both to the Gestapo's attention. Soon he is forced to make an impossible choice, the outcome of which he can only regret.
I like the way the author gets a lot said in so few pages. This one was good, but I prefer his other book, News from Berlin. 📖📖📖📖 #LitsyAtoZ#j@BookishMarginalia
