pickI didn‘t read this series in order and wish I had. It‘s such a great cast of characters. I love Julia and her sleuthing skills. I love that the main mystery is her family, finding them and tracking down answers. I was expecting a light cozy murder mystery in Maine, but this was a much deeper story. Decades old family secrets are unearthed, facilitated by reappearance of the long missing Black Widow diamond necklace.
It is a very personal story, more about the details of the family than a typical murder mystery.
pickNeeded some light reading after The Story of a Brief Marriage. Got this via NetGalley and it fit the bill for a #palatecleanser. This was cosy and pleasant; interesting enough for a mystery, with a warm but not cheesy happy ending and well-developed characters. There's also some delicious food involved and recipes at the back. I liked it well enough to consider reading the others in the Maine Clambake series the next time I need something fun.
