Discovering that I enjoy Carle's collage style more when there's an interplay between foreground subject and background, and when the subject is colourful, rather than one object all one colour, i.e bear on a white background. Multicoloured animals and marine life contrasting with the ocean behind them are the best of the bunch. I also prefer it when it's his own simple narrative, as opposed to a hodge podge of quoted, albeit multicultural, works.

Last month I picked my favorite weekly reads which helped me pick my read of the month at the end. Not necessarily the best written books but the ones that brought me the most joy, made me think or just resonated with me.
This is the graphic I made and it fits today‘s #WinterReadathonDailyChallenge prompt. I love polar bears, cubs, moose and reindeer. 💙

When a peacock loudly calls then look out for rain and squalls
This is another book that I‘m tempted to buy right now and definitely want for my classroom. There‘s so much to discover every time you look back at this book.
The illustrations of this book make the poems seem so much more tangible. The poems flow beautifully along with the illustrations.
This colorful P book by the talented Eric Carle carries children through a series of poems by Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll, and many more. This is a good book for GR, SR, and CR. #ucflae3413f17

UDL: 2.2 Clarify syntax and structure; poetry is an excellent way to help students work on these things.
"Please, Mommy, I read the animal book to you?" (The answer is always "yes, of course!") There, but not pictured: Best Bunny, Music Elephant, and Bebe [doll] Oliver, who got quizzed on the names of the animals as the teacher read to us.
