The importance of its story can't be overstated. It reminds me of Stone Butch Blues in its depiction of queer history. A lot of tough stuff: rape, assault of all forms and all the other ways oppression of queers, intersex & trans folks, and indigenous people manifest. The narrative voice really captures a naive, exuberant teen although the explicit sex scenes make for a book definitely not intended as YA. #QueerBooks #TransBooks #NativeReads

Got this review book for my blog in the mail today! By a new-to-me author Alec Butler. Like the author, the main character of the book is intersex, trans, and twospirit. Pretty exciting since I haven't found a Canadian intersex author until now! #QueerBooks #Transbooks
