A warm and laugh-out-loud funny story of one woman's brave quest to avoid true love. Best friends Hero and Sunday are holidaying in New York when Sunday persuades the normally conservative Hero to don a siren-red wig and the persona of Lola, a do-anything-anywhere-anytime trapeze artist. Disguised as Lola, Hero crosses paths - and a whole lot more - with gorgeous Oscar. Sparks fly, but Hero can't admit to Oscar that she's not who he thinks she is. Flash forward two years and Hero is back in Sydney, and in a relationship with arch conservative boyfriend Pelham. Life is comfortable, stable. Until she bumps into Oscar, that is. He's determined to pursue and win her back into his arms. He's also convinced that Hero is more like her alter ego Lola than she'd like to admit. No matter how hard Oscar tries, however, Hero insists that she's nothing like Lola, and she's not even slightly interested in him. Or so she keeps telling herself - and anyone else who'll listen. But does she protest too much? From the best-selling author of Love Struck and The Wish List comes a sparkling story about fate, love, cocktails and gorilla-grams.

Panpan

Sadly, predictable and thoughtless. A great highlight of outdated norms, somehow approving toxic dating culture, pseudo stalking, gaslighting, and blackmailing strategies to make a woman fall in love with a narcissistic man. Pass on this one, ladies.

I don't recall ever reading about peppermint tea, yet here it is again in my current read, having appeared multiple times in the book I just finished. I call that Book Serendipity and I absolutely love when that happens. I have the tea in the pic above in my pantry; maybe I should make a cuppa. #booksandtea ☕️📚

saresmoore Mmmm delicious. 8y
Lindy Lovely serendipity. Hope you brewed some mint tea for yourself. 😀 8y
Copwithabook I read several middle eastern books that talked about cardamom tea. I got curious and bought some. And now I have a favorite tea! 8y
Lola @Copwithabook I absolutely love making discoveries like that from books that then become part of my life. Score another point for reading :) 8y

Some of my favourite Australian authors. Toni Jordan, Dominic Knight and Krissy Kneen are hiding at the back! #aww2017 #shelfie

Chachic What about Kirsty Eagar?💖 8y
BookThingo @Chachic Good point! Eagar and Thorne are on loan to other people atm. 😊 8y
Chachic Have you tried Cath Crowley and Fiona Wood? Their books are also lovely. 8y
BookThingo @Chachic I almost bough Crowley's blue book, but the ending didn't make me happy, so I put it back. 😂 Haven't tried Fiona Wood, yet. 8y
