Queen of the Cookbooks | Ashton Lee
7 posts | 1 read | 4 to read
In the quirky Southern town of Cherico, Mississippi, a new library means an exciting new chapter for librarian Maura Beth McShayand for the friends and book lovers known as the Cherry Cola Book Club The construction of Chericos cutting-edge library has been an epic struggle worthy of War and Peace. But the Grand Opening Ceremony is scheduled at lastfor the Fourth of July no lessfeaturing lakeside fireworks and a concert by country singer Waddell Mack. Maura Beth has even devised a cooking contest among area chefs and aspiring Julia Childs to crown the Queen of the Cookbooks. Yet even Maura Beths careful plotting cant prevent some glitches Between a furniture fiasco that requires some creative problem-solving, and front-desk clerk Renettes major crush on Waddell Mack, theres equal parts drama and comic relief. Once the ribbon has been cut and the delicious recipes are judged, the Queen of the Cookbooks will take her crown, and the Cherry Cola Book Club, along with Maura Beth and her staff, will have the library of their dreams. But itll take luck, loyal friendships, and the shared love of a powerful story to make this a truly happy beginning Praise for The Cherry Cola Book Club novels An intrepid librarian, a book club feast, and a cozy, heart-warming Mississippi mysterywhat's not to love? --Jamie Ford, New York Times bestselling author of Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet Lees buoyant David-versus-Goliath tale zestfully illuminates a real problem confronting libraries and cities of all sizes. --Booklist

Does anyone subscribe to this app??? It‘s a site where you can have virtual bookshelves of your cookbooks- the recipes are then searchable and indexed - so you can find recipes.... for the actual recipes you go back to the print version. Thinking of trying it out???

alisiakae I‘ve never heard of it, but definitely checking it out now! 4y
Mitch @4thhouseontheleft it looks interesting- I can never locate recipes I want in all my books. So maybe this is the answer! 4y
TheAromaofBooks Oh wow, this sounds amazing! I've never even heard of it, but I'm definitely going to look into. It would have to work better than my random flagging system! 😂 4y

Amandajoy I have subscribed to this for years - I think even before Litsy was around! I LOVE it! 4y
Mitch @Amandajoy oh wow - good to know. I‘ve taken out a trial to see if the website is intuitive enough 🤞🏼 4y
Mitch @TheAromaofBooks I know ! I have more post it pages than blank pages in some books and that‘s not helpful! 4y
Amandajoy Last weekend I was trying to figure out what to do with all the green tomatoes from the garden when I winterized it. So I put it into the search bar & discovered I had a recipe for green tomato stock. Who knew that was a thing? And who knew I had a recipe for it? I utilize my cookbooks much more with it. 4y
Mitch @Amandajoy perfect! ( I also have a several trays of green tomatoes I have optimistically put on the kitchen windowsill!) 4y

Lol A few years ago I decided that once a month I was going to try a new recipe from a cookbook I had and post it. I‘ve only done it a few times. But once a month my calendar reminds me that I‘m supposed to do it and tag a couple Littens! 😂🤪😜📚 👩‍🍳 🥘

Gissy We are waiting here!☺️ 4y
rockpools Oh my! That *was* a few years ago. I should give it another go really. I‘m still the world‘s least enthusiastic cook, I still get gifted a beautiful new cookbook twice a year, and they‘re still neglected! I share a house with my mum who has numerous dietary requirements, which I don‘t have the skills/enthusiasm to work round, so I end up cooking the same things over and over... 4y
tpixie @Gissy lol 😂 maybe this weekend.. I have a few posted under #NeglectedCookBooks (edited) 4y

Tamra Great idea! 4y
tpixie @JamieArc ♥️ 4y
tpixie @Tamra yes! It was fun the few times I did it then life got in the way I really need to get back on it!! 4y
Tamra @tpixie life does get in the way of a number of fun things! 4y
LeahBergen I‘ve told myself to start doing this after a recent cookbook library tidying. 😆 4y
tpixie @Tamra lol it sure does! ♥️📚🎉♥️ 4y
tpixie @LeahBergen good luck! I‘ve used the # #NeglectedCookbooks (edited) 4y

Here‘s my disaster of a #cookbookshelfie or two @Mitch and @Chrissyreadit . I‘ve actually pared them down a bit in recent months by cooking through and letting go of quite a few. Still planning on working through many more until the shelves aren‘t such chaos.

robinb If you need a taste tester...I‘m available. 🤣😂🤤🙋🏻‍♀️ 5y
BookNAround @robinb LOL! But I will tell you some of them have been less than inspired. Nothing inedible yet, but I haven‘t counted that out. 5y
robinb @BookNAround I have that problem too...a lot of meh, not much wow. But luckily sometimes meh can be fiddled with and turns out not bad. 😂 (If you can follow my logic there). 5y

Chrissyreadit Love your fruit platter! What is your favorite cookbook? I‘m so glad you shared! 5y
BookNAround @Chrissyreadit I like different ones for different reasons. For purely cooking info, I appreciate The Joy of Cooking. For tried and true, I‘d choose the family cookbook I put together 15 years ago for my sister as a gift for her first married Christmas. 5y
Chrissyreadit Having a family cookbook sounds like a great way to have recipes. 5y
Mitch Brilliant! Mine are definitely due for a thinning out session soon when i can bring myself to do it! Love they have their own shelf - mine books are envious! 5y

This is the title of the Ashton Lee book in the center of this stack. I love the sound of the #cozymystery series it's a part of: the Cherry Cola Book Club 😂👏🏻😋. So here's a second stack of brand-new books from Friday. I loooooovvvvve working at the library 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻!!!! And I'm getting all the staff onto @Litsy as well, over time. I want to read all of these 😊. I could do the work faster, but I can't help stopping to look at each one 😂

SaraFair Must have those cozies! 8y
Wife I talked up litsy to the library staff when checking out books. I was shocked that none of them had heard of it. Even though I may not post daily, it is part of my daily routine now. 8y
MrBook @SaraFair Very, very popular here on Litsy 😊👍🏻! @Wife Wow, same here! It was unheard of before MrBook made his presence known 😂👏🏻! Now we have quite a few on here 😊👍🏻. 8y
