To be honest, I love this whole series. I love the adorable artwork. And how it introduces homophones. They‘re all so clever, and I love sharing them with my nibling.

#SundayFunday Have a wonderful Sunday, and don‘t forget to tag me on your posts!

MissyD I used this book when I taught homophones for years. 1y
AlaMich Is that the same Fred Gwynne who played Herman Munster? You may not know the answer to this if you are under 40. 👵🏻😂 (edited) 1y
MissyD @AlaMich why yes it is the same person who played Herman. (Which oddly enough my husband is watching that show now. 🤣) 1y

The #ssrf South Sound Reading Foundation just donated 400 books to the PTA at my school. The boxes were brought to my library and I had to open them all and look through before I went home for spring break. If you don't already know who penned this gem, Google his name.

BlueMoonJ This was one of my all time favorite books as a child. Loved that I know the secret identity! 😉 4y
mandarchy @BlueMoonJ That's so cool! I didn't learn about it until I was an adult. At least that's my memory. 4y

The King Who Rained by Fred Gwynne is a great RD MF book for any classroom library. The King Who Rained is about a little girl who confused different meanings of words that sound alike, a little girl imagines such unusual sights as “a King Who Rained” and “the foot prince in the snow.” Her mother and father use clear homophones, but the young girl has no clue of such. The illustrations are done from her perspective, which are totally off of what

Aimeejett her parents meant but are what you would expect from a small child‘s confusion. This shows how students really put into perspective some things you may have said or done. Also, this would be a great book if your class was learning about homophone. The UDL principle 3.1 activate prior background knowledge along with EL 4 link lesson topic to students‘ prior knowledge. For these homophones, I think it‘s important that your student thinks about a 7y

For example “daddy says we should live in the present.” Instead of putting a bow on top of the house, students should know that the present means what is happening day to day instead of literally a present. This website https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.brighthubeducation.com/lesson-plans-grades-1-2/... has a lesson just for the kids to practice their 7y

It looks like a great read 😊 I also really like the resource you chose. What a great way to get students involved and engaged. They get to draw while also working on understanding a new concept. 7y
DrSpalding Excellent book for vocabulary development. Be sure to include a Web resource. 7y

I know I am hard to buy books so my husband decided to go a different route-he remembered a conversation we had months ago about one of my favorite books as a kid and found it for me. I have many fond memories of checking this book out of the library over and over. I had fun reading it again!!
