A box full of ARCs and books sent by publishers that I really ought to get through. #freebie! #riotgram
Debiw781 Do you have your own blog or do you review for another site? 7y
MrBook WHOOAAA 😳!!! How does THAT happen?! #MrBookWantsToKnow 7y
drokka @Debiw781 @MrBook I used to review historical fictions and would link them to Twitter. Eventually a few historical fiction writers (mostly from the UK) asked if I could review their books. I said yes, but they passed my name onto their publishers and I was bombarded. I couldn't handle the load, and it began to feel like work and I felt pressured so I shut it down. It would have been okay if I didn't have to work too. (edited) 7y

monkeygirlsmama Several years ago I began reviewing for a book blog. I loved it, but I wanted to do my own thing so I left that site and started my own. I managed to make contacts at a number of amazing publishers and with a bunch of authors themselves. My name got passed around quickly, and I began having book deliveries arriving on my doormat daily. It was incredible! I had several stacks as big as yours and they always kept coming. I loved it. ⬇️ 7y
monkeygirlsmama I loved the people I was reviewing for and the books, but after a time it got overwhelming. Like you, it started to feel like too much work and that took away the pleasure. I felt like I didn't have time to balance my home life, my review life, and regular life. I also wanted to have the chance to go back to picking what I was the mood for, more than feeling compelled to read titles I didn't always ask for but got. That's why I ❤️NetGalley. 7y
Debiw781 I get a few books delivered from publishers to my house but I mainly use NetGalley or request them from Fresh Fiction, where I currently review. I also post a few reviews at a friend's blog. A friend and I used to run a review site but we ran into host problems and my friend (the actual owner of the site) just hasn't had the time to find another host due to life getting in the way. I love those deliveries! 7y
