#seasonsreadings2016 day 17: #poetry
I don't really read much poetry but I am trying to include some poetry in my kids' collection of books! Can you recommend some great poetry books for kids?
llwheeler Me and my sibs loved The Dragons are Singing Tonight when we were kids

slategreyskies I enjoy Jack Prelutsky. I love Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree. Naomi Shihab Nye does several excellent poetry books for children as well, but your children may need to grow into them. I'm not sure how old your kids are. :)

HKGirl Also, the "Poetry for Young People" series is great. Each book (I believe there are 25 total) features age-appropriate selections from famous poets. There's a collection of Maya Angelou, one of Edgar Allen Poe, one of William Carlos Williams, and so on. And the illustrations are lovely! 8y
