The Perfect Scoop
The Perfect Scoop: Ice Creams, Sorbets, Granitas, and Sweet Accompaniments | David Lebovitz
7 posts | 7 read | 3 to read
Ripe seasonal fruits. Fragrant vanilla, toasted nuts, and spices. Heavy cream and bright liqueurs. Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate. Every luscious flavor imaginable is grist for the chill in The Perfect Scoop, pastry chef David Lebovitzs gorgeous guide to the pleasures of homemade ice creams, sorbets, granitas, and more. With an emphasis on intense and sophisticated flavors and a bountiful helping of the authors expert techniques, this collection of frozen treats ranges from classic (Chocolate Sorbet) to comforting (Tin Roof Ice Cream), contemporary (Mojito Granita) to cutting edge (Pear-Pecorino Ice Cream), and features an arsenal of sauces, toppings, mix-ins, and accompaniments (such as Lemon Caramel Sauce, Peanut Brittle, and Profiteroles) capable of turning simple ice cream into perfect scoops of pure delight. From the Hardcover edition.

Made a start on some delicious Canteloupe Sorbet last night thanks to The Perfect Scoop! Cannot wait to get home and finish it off (by which I mean, make it & eat it all in one sitting!)

DivineDiana Sounds so yummy! 6y

3⭐️ I won't lie, even in the middle of winter freezing my toes off, this book makes me want ice cream. It all looks so yummy, that is when you get pictures. There are tons of flavors and types: ice cream, gelato, and even frozen yogurt. The other thing, is that all these recipes are for “traditional” ice cream that requires an ice cream machine, which is lovely, but I wish there were some of them new fangled no churn recipes.

LectricSheep It sounds weird, but one of the best ice cream flavors I ever had is basil ice cream, which my fiancé‘s brother makes every summer. Homemade ice cream is so delicious! It‘s too labor intensive for me to make though. ? 7y
LibrarianRyan @LectricSheep I agree. There are some interesting no churn recipes I have found like lavender mint, but not in this book. 7y

Weekend TBR: This is my TBR shelf. I'm super Luck that Mr Wonderful gave me his side of the shelf. His only remaining book is this excellent ice cream book. This weekend he is making Lilikoi ice cream, yum! Aloha Friday 🌺🍦🌅

Pickpick

I love David Lebovitz and his books so much, and his buttercrunch toffee (technically an ice cream mix-in in this cookbook, but it's a lovely standalone candy) is one of the things my family/friends/kids' teachers demand be made every holiday season. (Thankfully it is also really fun and easy to make!)

Cinfhen Yum😋 8y
