Queen Song (A Red Queen Novella)
Queen Song (A Red Queen Novella) | Victoria Aveyard

In this prequel novella set in the world of Red Queen, Queen Coriane, first wife of King Tiberias, keeps a secret diary - how else can she ensure that no one at the palace will use her thoughts against her? Coriane recounts her heady courtship with the crown prince, the birth of a new prince, Cal, and the potentially deadly challenges that lay ahead for her in royal life.

This was a bit confusing first, it took some time to remember what's this world and who were these characters. It could have been explained a bit more so it would have been easier to relate to the story & characters.

Soon after the beginning it was easier to feel for Coriane, who felt herself as an outsider. This had some darker undercurrents.

For a short novella this was a decent read and a bit twisted ending made it for me.

Andrew65 That can sometimes be the problem with books when it is a long time between books in a series, or where complex worlds are created. 2y

This was heartbreaking. The perspective you get about Cal's mother is sad and almost even ends like a horror story

I leave behind unfinished puzzles, pieces never put back together. It feels wasteful. Not of the objects, but myself.

There is nothing so terrible as a story untold.

Personally, this is a very poorly done and rushed backstory, especially near the end. I recommend not wasting your time reading it as it contributes little to nothing to the actual series.

I don't car what people say, I am glad we got Coriane's story. She was a troubled young lady, who had no one to confide in only her diary. Things might have ended differently if she wouldn't have kept everything to herself.
It was nice to see what kind of life she wanted for Cal.
Even if the end wasn't specifically written, it still made me sad.

This novella is about Cal's mom and how she ended up married to Tibe. It was nice seeing how Cal & his mom were similar, and that his father wasn't all evil in the beginning. But it was sad to see her slow descent into madness at the hands of Elara. Good you read if you like the series.

Finished this short prequel to Red Queen last night. A nice quick read. Interesting to get to know a little more about Cal's mother.
