I am posting one book per day from my extensive, and ever growing, TBR shelves. Some are old and some are new, some were gifts and some I don't remember why I bought them.

Day 25
#ABookADay2024
I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.
Day 101
#tbrmountain #bookbuyingdiet
Decided I was in the mood for tackling this behemoth of a book tonight for my #MarchUnshelfing #challenge At 1,044pgs it definitely qualifies as a chunkster. And for a PB, let me tell you, it weighs a ton! A SF classic, it tells the story of Richard “Dodge” Forthrast, former pot smuggler turned RPG mogul. But success has made him a target and hackers infect it with REAMDE, a virus that holds players files for ransom. A tale for these buggy times!

Day 1
Not horrible, but it doesn't scream "Read Me!!" (See what I did there?) ???
This was a fun read - especially because it brought together some unlikely pairings (MMORPGs, badass special forces action, international cooperation?, family struggles, multiple characters coming into their own) - so ridiculous yet so believable.. The story arcs are incredibly fast-paced and action-packed that it feels as if these people are the only ones in existence!
Audible US is haveing a 3 for 2 sale! The 3rd one I got is the tagged book. I still got 3 credits left but didn't spot anything else, and already own quite a few.

Jane Eyre reference FTW! 🙌
#BookMail Pt7 This is the first novel to feature Zulu & her uncle Richard “Dodge” Forthrast, a billionaire whose made his money off a virtual world called T‘Rain where you can live the life you choose. But a virus called ‘Reamde‘ is introduced which holds players to ransom & when Dodge and his team raid the hackers, things go horribly wrong.
@jillannjohn #justbookit starting this chunkster. Litsy really needs a way to mark books on your TBR as owned. If I acquire a book on my TBR I just mark it as read and don‘t rate it until I actually read it. #BFC
Reamde is especially long, which I don‘t mind if the length is warranted. It seems like I‘d have more to say about a book I spent over 2 weeks on, but it‘s not incredibly complex. Some of the coincidences are a bit improbable, verging on the outlandish. Events take a long time to unfold in this mystery/thriller. If I was to recommend a Stephenson novel, I‘d go with one of his others. Still,it wasn‘t bad. Overall rating: 4.07 stars
I have conquered this beast! What I liked the most about the book was the way Stephenson managed to connect all the plot points into a mostly believable story arc. I did feel bogged down by the amount of details but I think that‘s a given with his books.
I may have forgotten to check the page number on this beast. Last time I ever trust my friend who told me this was a “quick” read. 😱😳 *takes a deep breath and cancels all June plans*
Great story, fast paced, feels like it would be a great movie. From the blurb I thought it would be quite techy/sci-fi but was more adventure thriller. Moving from Seattle to Canada to China, to the Philippines, with hackers, billionaires, gamers, terrorists, Russian mafia... Kept me interested the whole 38 odd hours.
One of the longest I've attempted in a while... 38.5 hours. I'm 45 minutes in. So far, I like.
My second book by this author, and to be honest it started well. But ‘m only 63 pages in after starting it ten days ago. And it‘s 1,000+ pages long. At this rate, I‘ll finish in July. And my TBR stack is so high that I‘m putting this aside until I have a long plane trip.....looonnngggg plane trip.
Has anyone read this? Seems a good bargain, but not an author I have read yet. Any feedback from anyone on this or the author?
My current #bookhaul seems to have an unintentional color theme. ? This stack is what happens when you run up to #BarnesandNoble "just for the free book" the kiddo earned in their summer reading program. Plus the two extra the kiddo talked me into for herself. Well played, BN, well played. #summerreading #raisingreaders #homeschool
Prototypical Neal Stephenson thrill ride - huge (1040pp), action-packed, technologically-savvy, maybe a little over-descriptive in spots, but on the whole really entertaining. Some of the action takes place in a World of Warcraft-like online game, which was especially fun for me as a former player - but the plot moves from virtual world to real world seamlessly and I would think even non-gamers might enjoy it.
Page 50:
This is kinda like Ready Player One! I love this!
Page 500: Please stop. I just can't anymore. How much longer???
This book is 1000+ pages. That small lump is my bookmark. Poor lil guy!
I'm not going to lie...my success rate with reading #doorstoppers is not great. Don't get me wrong, I think Neal Stephenson is a great writer, just the video game based story line of Reamde wasn't for me. That said, I really enjoyed Snowcrash and wasn't the Metaverse just like a video game?? #Riotgrams
Intelligent page turner. Was a long read, but I really enjoyed it.
#whereiread for #riotgrams
Also where I hope to spend all weekend, getting into Reamde.
Decisions, decisions...
What should I listen to next?
After turning a bunch of my gen x peers onto Ready Player One, I tried to take it up a notch and tell them that REAMDE was equally fun. Unfortunately the jump from Cline to Stephenson just wasn't the same level of easy to digest soft serve ice cream nostalgia that they were hoping for 😂

If I could have two thumbs up I would. Love this book! Super fun and fast paced adventure.
