1880. She doesn't remember who she is or how she came to the mansion on the isolated Maine coast. Lost in a strange world filled with even stranger faces, Selena finds comfort in a man whose eyes reflect her own aloneness.
This is a very dark story. The first half of the book is slow. It is a Hannah book but very early in her writing.

EadieB The second half is better and explains everything about Selena. Still the writing is very slow and could be more interesting. To me it is probably more like a fantasy book until the ending when things are explained. I look forward to my next Hannah book but hope it won't be slow like this book. It's not what I was looking to read in a book. 2y

Published 25 years ago! Hannah had the gift even then. Not the epic, sweeping HF that is The Great Alone, or Nightingale - but magical indeed. The rich characters and beautiful story made it easy to read in 1 sitting. Silver lining of our shutdown: having my own readathon

I love Kristin Hannah books. This one not so much. Yes, it has taken me FOUR weeks to finish. Honestly, every time I picked it up to read, I fell asleep. There simply was not enough “pow” to make me want to read more. I do not know why the title was “Waiting For The Moon”, but I was waiting for it to end.
