I'm a huge Jim Henson fan and I absolutely love the strange, unique world of The Dark Crystal.

This graphic novel explores where the crystal comes from and is a bit of a background to the movie. The artwork was great and felt very Henson-like.

If you aren't a fan of the movie, you probably won't enjoy this one. For fans though, it's pure nostalgia.

Snagged at my local library. I loved it. Great art and story telling. I'm very excited for the new movie coming out. I just need to re-watch the original to prepare.

Introducing my kids to The Dark Crystal tonight so we will be ready for the new Netflix series. I remember seeing this in the theater as a kid and it scaring me to tears. Those Skeksis are still creeping me out lol

I finally sat down and read my first book for the #letsgetgraphicweeklongmarathon and I think this hits the mark for #throwback, even though the comic came out in 2015. I looooved The Dark Crystal when the movie came out in the 80's! It terrified and enchanted me. This volume added some interesting creation myths to that world, and left me wanting to read more. I wish I had bought the other volumes now!

(Again, not the same as the tagged book, which is also awesome.) I loved the first issue of Jim Henson's The Power of the Dark Crystal! The authors created something new--a new storyline with a different piece to the world--while still nodding to the artistic style of the original and writing something that feels as though it belongs in the storyline. Fantastic! I'll be frantically searching my local comic shop for hard copies of this series.

Next on my stack! I love everything related to The Dark Crystal. ❤️The one tagged is the first volume in an amazing duo of graphic novels about how Thra came to be, and how the Crystal was damaged many years before the movie takes place. The pictured series of comics which I'm starting now takes place many years after the events of the movie, when a Fireling from below Thra needs a piece of the Crystal to save her people from extinction. 😁😁😁
