Interesting narration; emotional story of sex trafficking in the US.

A brutal and horrifying tale of teen human trafficking. Chock-FULL of triggers. Worth it.

#readjanuary day 31: #bestofjanuary. The best book I read this month was Dime, by E. L. James. It really sucked me in, and crushed my soul a little. Honorable mention goes to So, Anyway, by John Cleese. Technically I haven't finished it yet, but I'm enjoying it so much that I'm giving it a shout-out anyway.

This was not a happy book, but it's a well-written one. Bookish 14-year-old Dime slips out of an unhappy foster home into prostitution. Things get more and more horrible. There is surprisingly little graphic sex, a fair amount of violence, and the reader is aware of everything that Dime and her companions endure, and of the thoughts and actions that keep them trapped. Very relevant read for January, which is Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

Excellent book about a young girl who falls in love and into sex work.

My quote after reading it: "Dime! OMG. Heartbreaking. I wish it was farther from real life."

A beautifully written, heartbreaking book about the horrific life of a child prostitute. 14 year old Dime, is swallowed up by life, desperate to be cared for, and finds her only solace in books. Packed with literary references, I loved the nod to 'The Book thief', as she imagines her story told not by Death, but by Sex, by Money and as her situation worsens, by Truth. And what could have been a purely depressing read, ends with a beacon of hope...

This YA book is just so heartbreaking.... (lots of trigger warnings - its about child prostitutes/ human trafficking)... the main character 'Dime', finds her only solace in books..... loved this paragraph... 💕💕

L_auren ER Frank's early work was so important to me back in middle school (2001 or so)! Would love to check out her later studs 8y
