The Queen's Accomplice
The Queen's Accomplice: A Maggie Hope Mystery | Susan Elia MacNeal
Spy and code-breaker extraordinaire Maggie Hope returns to war-weary London, where she is thrust into the dangerous hunt for a monster, as the New York Times bestselling mystery series for fans of Jacqueline Winspear, Charles Todd, and Anne Perry continues. England, 1942. The Nazis relentless Blitz may have paused, but Londons nightly blackouts continue. Now, under the cover of darkness, a madman is brutally killing and mutilating young women in eerie and exact re-creations of Jack the Rippers crimes. Whats more, hes targeting women who are reporting for duty to be Winston Churchills spies and saboteurs abroad. The officers at MI-5 quickly realize they need the help of special agent Maggie Hope to find the killer dubbed the Blackout Beast. A trap is set. But once the murderer has his sights on Maggie, not even Buckingham Palace can protect the resourceful spy from her fate. Praise for the Maggie Hope series Youll be [Maggie Hopes] loyal subject, ready to follow her wherever she goes.O: The Oprah Magazine From the Trade Paperback edition.

Finished this one last week. Maggie is still waiting for her sister to come to England from Germany. Sarah is getting ready for her first mission. There is a blackout killer copying Jack the Ripper and killing women working for the SOE. Maggie works with the police and MI5 to solve the murders and maybe finds another love interest.

In this book. Maggie Hope is back in London tracking down a serial killer - excuse me! Sequential murderer - with MI-5 and Scotland Yard. People - it's a ripping yarn! I quite enjoyed it and am ready for the next one!

In this one, Maggie catches the interest of a Jack the Ripper copycat. He‘s targeting fellow SOE agents. I‘m really enjoying this series, seems like each book gets better and better. 💜💜💜

Now THIS is a Maggie Hope story I can get behind! Maggie is back in London and helping the police find a serial killer targeting working women like her. We also get side stories - such as her half sister‘s struggles getting out of Ravensbrück - but my favorite aspect is always following Maggie! The ending has a great cliffhanger and I am sooo excited to listen to the next installment!! ?????

By far the BEST book in the Maggie Hope series!!! It was thrilling, jaw dropping & heart pounding at several points all leading up to the next book. This series has all my favorites, smart leading woman, WWII, British and a good mystery all told with such realistic scenarios & actual historical figures. Can‘t wait to get my hands in the next installment!! #historicalfiction #independantwoman #MaggieHope #bookworm

First letter done for my first ever reading challenge :) No. 6 in the series, Maggie Hope just continues to be a solid read. Set during WWII, this blends the mixed elements and storylines of German concentration camps, missing spies in France, and a Ripper copy-cat back home in London all with great grace.

Series is reminiscent of Maisie Dobbs with a slightly lighter touch. No. 7, "The Paris Spy" to be out in August. Looking forward to it!

Suetara I love this series so much! ❤ 8y

A great series to start if you are a fan of historical (WWII) fiction and strong female lead characters.

Excellent perspective set during ww2. The author does a good job blending historical fact in with fiction using real people and events. This mystery, although based on actual events, seemed a but derivative. Where this book shines is the focus on the inequitable treatment of women, whether it's about pay, work status or roles during wartime. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

It's a deliciously rainy day and I have enjoyed it reading! I finally finished Barkskin, by Annie Proulx and just read the latest Tana French book, The Tresspasser. She is such a good writer!! She takes what is such a well worn style- the police procedural- and adds depth and character nuance. It both feels familiar and completely new. Now I am going to crack open one of the NetGalley's I was granted that is a bit lighter fare.
