Holly...had been referring to him as “Super-Sexy Scientist Guy” for the last month. This was her new client...He had the lead in a #movie slated for a fall release that was already generating big buzz in town. I didn‘t know much about the movie, but I knew Holly was very excited to be representing him. Super-Sexy Scientist Guy gave me a confused and somewhat sheepish grin. Did he know how hot that grin was? Oh yeah, he totally knew. #QuotsyJune19

“This song never ceases to make me happy. If I had a top-five song list, this would be on it.” I leaned my head back against the leather seat and let #IntotheMystic pour over me.

Mehso-so

Contemporary romance is hit or miss for me. As much as I loved Wallbanger, another of Clayton's books, this one was just okay. Grace & Jack had some great banter & plenty of steamy moments, but sometimes their interactions fell flat. I know this is the 1st in a series, but I would have liked to see at least a few of the loose ends tied up before the final page. Although this wasn't my favorite, I still plan on checking out Clayton's other series.

Megaled I'm the same way with contemporary romance, I don't know what is- but leave me feeling kinda "meh." 8y
megt @Megaled I feel like maybe I just haven't found the right author? I don't know, I WANT to love it, but I tend to walk away underwhelmed. 8y
Megaled @megt I also think that when a story takes place in modern time periods it's harder to suspend reality. Like crazy stuff happens on the news, so it's hard to imagine a contemporary world where things are light and fluffy for example. That why when reading historical rom I can lose myself in the story more easily- if that makes sense? Like I know horrible things in history happened, but since I'm not a historian I embrace those fluffy books. :) 8y
megt @Megaled yep, that's definitely part of it! I mean, in general I'm great at suspending reality, as you know. But I think I do struggle with that when it comes to contemporary romance. I'm still convinced there's a series of author out there that will hook me, I just haven't found it yet. 8y

That was just what I needed. I could not read this book without smiling. Except when I was fanning myself. Of hitting myself in the face with it when frustrated. But damn, that was adorable. I risked motion sickness to finish it on the train this morning, that's how eager I was.
