I absolutely loved this book!! It has a definite "Downton Abbey" feel to it (which I also loved). Very happy that it's book 1 of a series, because I'm definitely invested!

Although the book is set in the same time period as Downton Abbey and hits the same historical events, it is much more soap opera.
It was annoying that the story was to often unnaturally forced with squeezed in (too many) vital, crucial moments before a life-changing decision.
Everything was hyper-dramatic in the book - from the characters to the plot. A lot of obviousness, predictability and contradictions.
Nonetheless it is an OK read.
Day two of the #melandprireadathon and I finally finished my letter v for #litsyatoz. This WWI era family saga read like a soap opera with lots of secrets and scandals. I cannot wait to see what the next two volumes have in store for the Lyttons.
Honestly my #favehotdrink is the first cup of coffee in the morning. A good cup of tea relaxing in the evening isn't so bad either. I am now over half way through this book and realizing I have the third book in the series but not the second. Book shopping in my future. #autumnreads
I have to leave my #booksndblanket and actually venture out into the world for a few hours. More coffee will be required. I am a fast reader and this book is taking me forever to read. I am really enjoying it which is good because I will be spending a lot of time with it and it is book one in a trilogy. #autumnreads
"I'm afraid I was mistaken over that," said Celia who had notion increased deafening in LM's voice, a swift and intent study of the papers on her desk as she spoke.
So I am either wrong or if taken in context covering for someone else's feelings all of 2017. yay me.
Both books I am reading at the moment are over 500 pages and I have barely made a dent in either. A Tuesday that more like a Monday has meant little time for reading. #toughtuesday #awesomeautumnbooks
It is crazy hot in San Francisco (it hit 106 yesterday) so I am putting off all plans for the day and sitting in my favorite reading place with my fan blowing in my direction and trying to make a dent in this book. #fallstack
Many of my #bookishpetpeeves are the same as yours. Sticky stickers, dog ears, etc. Here's another (I know I've said this before) : when the fashion on the covers don't match the era the books are set in. Both these books take place in around the 1920s but the outfits here are at least 20 years later!
