This is what I like to call a book appetizer. A nice quick lite read after a reading a classic.

luc moncrief a detective newly from Paris where he made a name for himself. In the span of working a case his partner is killed, then his lover a short time later. It's obvious someone from Moncrief's past is after making him pay. He and his new partner K. Burk try to put the pieces together. I liked it, and there were some twists.... it just didn't grab me.

A few years ago, a detective with the Paris police described the prison at Clairvaux as “hell, but without any of the fun.” I think the detective was being kind.
