Pickpick

This is a pick only because I feel nostalgic toward this juvenile mystery series (my favourite when I was young). It feels very dated now. On the other hand, I still appreciate the puzzles set out by the author and the cleverness of the investigators, which was what appealed to me most when I was a child.

TheAromaofBooks I don't remember hearing for this series before!! 2y
kwmg40 @Laurelhel @batsy Nice to see other fans (or former fans) of this series! I thought there weren't too many of us here who would remember it. 2y
kwmg40 @Librarybelle Yes, it is fun. I loved all the juvenile mystery series that were so popular when I was a child. 2y
kwmg40 @TheAromaofBooks It's not surprising you'd not heard of this series. Sadly, it went out of print because of a copyright dispute, which still hasn't been resolved, so it's hard to find the books. 2y
Andrew65 Great 👏👏👏 2y
FlowerFairy Oh wow! So excited to see someone else who loved this series as a child! And I loved the cover art as much as I did the stories. 2y
kwmg40 @FlowerFairy I loved the covers too. I had a good number of books from this series, but my Mom gave them all away to my younger cousins. I'm still sad about that, but glad that others got to enjoy the books. 2y

Pickpick

This was a fun reunion with a favorite series from my childhood. I am self-aware enough to know that if this were my first encounter with Jupiter, Pete, and Bob, then I would be unimpressed. But then I would also be wrong because these stories are perfect and I will hear no disagreement. 🙉😄

tokorowilliamwallace Nice, an Alfred Hitchcock Presents volume! I found an older slim paperback edition of one collection of short stories tagged with Hitchcock, I hope to both find and read more of them in the future! 3y
SRWCF Again, another amazing cover! They always made the protagonists look so terrified back then. 😱 3y
swynn @tokorowilliamwallace Oh, it's been a long time since I've read one of the AHP anthologies, but I've loved those too. This one is the first volume in a juvenile mystery series, that includes an "introduction by Alfred Hitchcock" in that signature sardonic style. 3y

swynn @SRWCF Agreed! This one is by the American illustrator Ed Vebell, who had a pretty fascinating life himself: Olympic fencer, camouflage painter in WWII, courtroom artist at the Nuremberg Trials, and also cover artist for the first two Three Investigators adventures. 3y
SRWCF @swynn that's awesome! He sounds like a real Renaissance man🤺🏇 3y

I‘ve loved mysteries since I was a kid and this series was a childhood favorite! I recently found this one (#1 in the series) on Thrift and am thoroughly enjoying rereading it!

Anyone ever read this series? I remember devouring these books as a kid. Pretty sure I read the entire series a couple of times and was pretty sure I was destined to become a private investigator. Good memories 🤓

quirkyreader I shared a set with my brother. 7y
The.Intentional.Reader @quirkyreader me too! They were so corny but I have such fond memories of both of us reading them 7y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I found them via a conversation with my library manager and I was intrigued enough to track some down via eBay... 7y
