The Cellar
The Cellar | Richard Laymon
10 posts | 11 read | 14 to read
Visitors flock to see the Beast House with its blood-soaked corridors and creaky doors. Armed with video camcorders, these poor souls enter the forbidden house, never to return. The deeper they go into the house, the darker their nightmares become. Don't even think about going into the cellar.

My first post here on Litsy. I'm trying to read as much as I can these days and I'm proud of my progress this year. I am sitting down with a pipe filled with Distinguished Gentleman and reading Richard Laymon's The Cellar. It's my first Laymon novel. Let me know what you think of him. I might read the whole Beast House series for the month of October.

1- The Cellar by Richard Laymon
2- There was a sado/masochist sexual aspect to it that really disturbing.
3- I hated The Blair Witch Project. I didn't think it was scary at all.
4- Pennywise and Pinhead
5- funkos, bookmarks, crystals
6- Will do 🎈

Skygoddess1 I completely agree with you about Blair Witch Project 4y
teebe I didn‘t like Blair witch either. Have you seen the new one? I‘ve yet to watch it but people keep telling me it‘s good 😒🤷🏻‍♀️ 4y
BookwormAHN @teebe I haven't but I am curious about how it turned out. 4y

So so or pick with premonitions. If you like Laymon, The Cellar is worth the read! If you've never read him, maybe take a chance! Very sexual. Yes, I've said that before, but this is a different level than my previous Scarlet Gospels review. Laymon is a quick, fun read. May seem like ya horny teenage brother wrote it though...

EadieB @llcoolnate Welcome to Litsy! 5y
llcoolnate @EadieB Thanks a bunch! 5y
Reggie I like Laymon but his books always take this left turn into I don‘t know what the hell?!!! I liked his book The Island the best. 4y
llcoolnate @Reggie Bro yes! I've read several of his and I'm always thinkin his over-sexual is also out of place as hell 4y

Blah blah blah. I‘m totally missing the draw to this book, or authors style or whatever. The writing is sloppy and gross. The sex is stolen from a teen boy‘s journal with the exception of the pedo stuff which is just awkward. Long story short, I wouldn‘t bother. Spoiler in comments.

MaddestMax The end of this book is just a pisser. I couldn‘t believe it. Honestly, the weakest part of the entire book. Shame on the author. Makes me mad. 6y

I have a feeling this book is not going to be a...big winner. The writing is just not up to par. Even for a shock horror novel. We‘ll see.

Pickpick

One of my favorite horror novels where Laymon really puts the beast in bestiality. You know what I mean if you've read this and it's sequels. @That-Bookish-Hiker #thatbookishhikergiveaway
