A fun cozy mystery set in the Scottish Highlands. First in a series, and I will read more.

A fun cozy mystery set in the Scottish Highlands. American Eden needs a bit of a respite from her personal problems, so her BFF suggests time away in the Highlands. Eden stumbles upon murder and becomes a suspect in various deeds happening in Glenkillen. Quick pace; perfect escape reading. And, I finished this with a few of my boys resting nearby. #Zeke #SebastianKitty #Xander #CatsOfLitsy #19822022 #2014

Could have been so much better. I didn't finish it in one sitting so that means it wasn't as good as most others like it. I hope the second one is better.

I appreciated the main character most of the time, but in the end, I found her a little too good to be true. She came to the story with trauma behind her, and while I love that she didn't wallow in her misery, she didn't seem very affected by it either. I found the romance to be VERY low key. I did enjoy the setting.

I love a good cozy mystery... But this one just... It started out really awesome and we have this new spin on a heroine. But as the story progressed, I felt that the mystery just died and it was all about lust.. when we finally got back to the mystery, I was just ready to bail. Sure enough this book gets only a 3/5 stars.

queerbookreader Do you think you'll give the second book a chance? A lot of times cozy mysteries take a few books to really get settled with the characters and the formula so usually if the first one is weird I give the next one a try to see if it's any better. (sometimes they're even worse lmao but you won't know until you try I guess) 8y
drokka I thought the second one was better. But the author needs to tone down on the 'driving on the opposite side of the road' drama. There's even some it in the third novel. 8y
MeikyuuAgeha @lemonlime799 I have the second book in my possession, and I'm hoping it'll be better. I pray for it 8y
MeikyuuAgeha @drokka I saw that in the book, which I didn't think too much of. I think I felt disappointed because it lost the appeal of the mystery, which cozies sometimes do. I'll give the second one hope 8y
