Love You to Death
Love You to Death | Meg Cabot
Being a mediator doesn't exactly make Susannah Simon your typical sixteen-year-old. Her job is to ease the path for the unhappy dead to their final resting place. Not all ghouls want to be guided, but Suze is inclined to kick some serious ghost butt if she has to. Now she's moved to California with her new stepfamily and is starting out at a brand-new school. From her first day, her mediator skills are tested to the max when Suze finds herself the target of the murderous spirit of ex-class beauty, Heather. At least she's sharing her new bedroom with Jesse, who just happens to be the hottest ghost in history. Suze is totally warm for his form and is determined to win the heart of the sexiest spirit in town. But can this girl get her ghost?

Cabot making me laugh and they are quick reads. Not her best but I‘m enjoying the ghostly banter! 💁🏻‍♀️😂 just doing my free spaces in order because I have two others I know I‘ll finish this weekend. That bingo is coming! #bookspinbingo

Not a bad way to kill time between work and playing trivia with some coworkers this evening. Coffee, a book swap shelf and finishing my book - my kind of afternoon. I‘ve been kind of surprised at home much I‘ve been enjoying this YA series since I wasn‘t much for YA books when I was a young adult 🤣.

Ahh! This was fun! Suze's bestie from New York, Gina comes for a visit and shakes things up in the Simon/Ackerman household. I laughed out loud several times (laugh snorted even). Little brother, David is still my favourite - he comes out with some real gems!

A few dated references but otherwise holds up. In the first instalment Suze moves from New York to California in the wake of her Mum's remarriage. Aside from the delectable ghostly Jesse, my fave character is little brother David (aka Doc) he's such a sweetie! We do the high school experience quite differently in Australia - so class elections and cook outs on the beach have me like 🤔😂😬

'Poison? No, no, Susannah. I was thinking about giving him head lice. The nurse checks for them once a semester. I'll just see that young Mr Martinson comes down with a bad case of them —'

'Oh my God!' I shrieked. 'That's disgusting!'

Some out of the box thinking from Father Dominic 😂❤️

Nostalgia overtook me at Savers when I spotted a complete set of 'The Mediator' novels... which works out well because I also bought the new Mediator novel when it came out - reread time! #mostanticipatedreads #booktober

GlitteryOtters I love that series WAY too much! 😍😍😍 FYI, the audiobooks are pretty good, too. I re-read them on audio at least a couple times each year while doing other things (they are great books to listen to while doing more complex tasks as I know the stories do well it doesn't matter if I tune out for a couple of paragraphs while doing tough tasks). 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @GlitteryOtters, I loved her 1800-Missing series too! The library had two versions one set as 'Meg Cabot' and 'Jenny Carroll' (I think) and they had slightly different titles - I got caught out a couple of times thinking it was one I hadn't read 😕 have you read the new one? 8y
GlitteryOtters Yup! Preordered it, devoured it on audio the day it released. 😂😂 8y

GlitteryOtters Did you ever watch the tv show based on the 1-800 Missing series?? Really enjoyable. I feel they did a pretty decent job on it. 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @GlitteryOtters, I haven't yet... hopefully will get through the lot this month ☺️ I didn't know that it had been made into a tv show. Will see if I can find it. 8y
queerbookreader I LOVE MEG this is such a good series omg. I still haven't gotten my hands on the last one she released 😭 doesn't she write the dreamiest romantic interests though? 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @lemonlime799, that she did 😍 I'm looking forward to diving back in... 8y
GlitteryOtters Here's the show info from Wikipedia (it has some misinformation, though, as Netflix had seasons 1 & 3 on streaming & 2 on disk, so I watched it all through them--not sure if all of the rest of the info is accurate): https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_(Canadian_TV_series) 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @GlitteryOtters, It's not on the Aussie Netflix 😐 it sounds like the character is older... did that work ok? 8y
GlitteryOtters It worked really well. I think the age issue is due to the lead actress being older (but as Caterina Scorsone is such a good actress, it is worth making the change). Storylines don't follow exactly from the books, it is more like an alternate universe take on the main story idea. If you are a strict purist who hates any changes/differences it might not be your thing, but if you can think of it as AU Missing, it works. 8y
GlitteryOtters I don't know how much exposure you guys have to the Laura Ingalls Wilder books & the Little House on the Prairie show, but that is kind of the closest comparison I can think of. The general ideas and drive of the story is the same, main character is basically the same, just things are expanded & go off a bit into AU territory, but it works. Scorsone is a really talented actress & really gets the character, IMHO. 8y
GlitteryOtters Also, I find it rather amusing that I am talking to you back and forth on 2 different social media apps right now. 😂😂 #ilovetheinternet 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag I shouldn't be awake right now @GlitteryOtters 😱 I was watching Luke Cage and ignoring the little voice that was saying 'sleeeeeep' (it's after 5am now... oops) Thinking of book to tv/movies as being set in an AU is a really genius idea! I read a couple of the Little House books but missed the tv show (I had a friend that was quite taken with it tho - so I'm not sure how big of an impact it had here) 8y
Carol I read all the original books but am afraid to continue. What if I don't like it? Gah! 8y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @Carol, that is a possibility! @GlitteryOtters seemed to like it... so it should be ok! 8y
GlitteryOtters @carol it was good, definitely not perfect & started a little slow, but well worth reading just to reconnect with characters I liked so much...it's been a few months since I read it, but I want to say I think it was a 3.75 stars out of 5? Don't expect perfection or something life changing, and it isn't the best book in the series, but it was a good bit of Meg Cabot-ish fun & well worth reading. 8y
GlitteryOtters @carol also, it was a really fast read, read it as an audiobook and was done that same day. Definitely one of those books I devoured practically in one sitting. 😂 8y
Carol @GlitteryOtters thanks!! I'll give it a whirl! 8y

Here's the used books I got last night at the thrift store for today's #augustphotochallenge 😊 Excited to try out the novelization of ST Into Darkness and see how they wrote it. Also, Claire de Lune is about a girl named Claire who finds out she's a werewolf? 100% positive it was written for me. ✨

thec0zy The mediator series is sooo good! I still haven't gotten to read the most recent one though 🙄 8y
MemoirsForMe Keep us posted on Claire the werewolf. Sounds awesome! 😊 8y
queerbookreader @thec0zy Suze is my favorite, she'll be my pick for the photo challenge's favorite female character day. I haven't read it either yet!! It's been checked out at my library for basically a million years so I'm upset about that. @UwannaPublishme when I start reading it I'll do updates! 8y

Since this book came out in 2005, my younger self agrees with this. 😂

Jamesmelvinmitchell What does your older self say? 😄😄 9y
