I thought this was a bittersweet tale that's not necessarily the one the blurb promises, but one that is great nonetheless. I liked the Don Quixote links a lot and the forays into fantasy were cleverly done.

Recent purchase ~ The Less than Perfect Legend of Donna Creosote (Kindle edition📱)
"Less than perfect" would be an exaggeration. I quit at the 8% mark. Why are books about bookworms usually so awful?
I've been sitting on this review for awhile and am still struggling to reflect on it. I think some people will love it but I just despised it. Without giving too much away, it wasn't at all what I expected and I was disappointed with the reality. I expected a magical, bookish adventure and instead got a depressed, socially awkward alcoholic who escapes in her books to avoid her life. I wanted more hope and maybe some joy and there was none.
Page 2 and I'm hooked!
I am late in listening to the latest podcast from The Readers. I'm 80% through, walking home from work on a wonderfully cool night in Tokyo, and very much wishing @SavidgeReads a speedy recovery. His luscious rant about this particular novel has got me all worked up about reading it as soon as possible!
Bears football, The Less Than Perfect Legend of Donna Creosote, homemade chicken pot pie, and a newly opened bottle of wine = perfect night. 🐻📚🍗🍷❤️
