It's always a pleasure to read her non-fiction: of course, I enjoyed the pieces about writing the best but I love encountering the breadth of her curious mind. I enjoy her wittiness and intelligence. I love how she says "I" a lot and doesn't try to pass off her opinions as objective truths carved on stone tablets (much less beat me around the head with them).
She makes me want to write better.
(And I want to read more of her novels, too).
#slowreads What‘s one of your slow reads? A book to be dipped into periodically? 📚🕰
Congratulations on reaching 10k @LiterRohde ! I‘ll agree that the Littens are especially wonderful!
I chose The Wave in the Mind, by Ursula K LeGuin at the risk of being redundant. It is no secret that I love UKL‘s work and I find it all incredibly inspiring and moving. I‘ve hoarded many of her books and delayed reading them so that I would continue to be inspired by her afresh after her death. Now that it‘s come to pass, I‘ll be reading them.

Plunging into the ocean of words, roaming into the broad fields of the mind, climbing the mountains of the imagination...that was my freedom, that was my joy. And it still is.
UKL was one of my literary heroes. RIP.
