I am translating this book into bahasa Indonesia😎
My breakfast
My son asked me to read aloud this book to him. This 3 year-old kid cannot understand what us the meaning of the story, though. I have read this book about 5 years ago. But today I was interested to what is written on the first page...
I think I'm too old to enjoy a story like this...
When someone won't let you in, eventually you stop knocking.
I had just come to accept that my life would be ordinary when extraordinary things began to happen.
Finally I finished reading this. It was like watching a Bollywood movie, or a Latin soap opera. I think the author stlll remains in these topics: dispute about different class and pure blood vs mixed blood.
I can't beat the feeling when I saw this. The writer whose book I've translated said 'thank you' to me and the local publisher, who published the book in bahasa Indonesia version, on Twitter :)
i read this book several times because I like the topic: how a state controls the mind of its people by reproducing contents of media. The main character's job is very interesting: he must replace information published on old media that doesn't fit to the government.
Found something new from old time ;)
A holistic history about book destruction, including political situation or chaos that happened behind the destructions. This picture is showing the cover of the version in Bahasa Indonesia, which I translated and was publishen in 2013.
Friends for this rainy day... A cup of coffee, and a book about how a book was written :)
I think this is the point of this book...and as my husband has written in his novel "Niskala": "home is the most fascinating word for an adventurer who has found his way home, the main character of this novel has also finally found the home for his heart.
Been ignoring this book and finally my husband bought me on a book fair last Sunday :P. FYI it's the Bahasa Indonesia version.
Still haven't finished reading Of the Human Bondage but can't help myself to start reading this book...an old and rare one so I am very happy to get this from Gutenburg!
...one could reconcile oneself to existence only because it was meaningless.
...man, no more significant than other forms of life, had come not as the climax of creation but as a physical reaction to the environtment.
