Can't wait to start this: Brad Watson is the Mississippi author I tell people they should be reading. I love him.

tracymcarr Geriatric cat agrees. 8y

Finally started this in earnest. Every sentence stabs me in the heart, but in a good way.

MrBook Coale's twin 😸👍🏻! 8y

I've been flirting with this book for years, but I think it's finally going to happen this time!

MrBook Ditto. You're making me want to get it now too. 8y
tracymcarr @MrBook I just finished. It's required reading. Get on it! 8y

The Nest: A Novel | Cynthia D'Aprix Sweeney
Mehso-so

I'm flummoxed about this one. It was fine, but why is it so popular?! Is it the cute cover? Because that cover is very cute.

Reviewsbylola I admit, the cover was a big reason I bought The Nest. My sister and I both finished it and wondered what we were missing. Pretty disappointing. 8y

Lincoln in the Bardo | George Saunders
Pickpick

I knew I would love it, but I didn't know exactly why. It's inventive, funny, sad, and utterly human. Add "invents a new narrative form" to the mix. Your kids will study this in school.

Nothing can top Life After Life for me, but this was close. The Todd family is my favorite (right after the Mitfords).

Sydsavvy I agree! I think that is why I've struggled on this one. 8y
tracymcarr @Sydsavvy It look me a long time to get into it but it was worth it. 8y
Sydsavvy Good to know, I will take it with me to the beach! 8y

I'm excited and a little scared to start this, but may just leave it on the couch since it looks so great with my throw pillows.

Notafraidofwords I was so scared to start it, but it's such an amazing story line and writing that I couldn't stop once I started it. 9y

Pickpick

My work bookclub just read this, with mixed reviews...mixed because half the group didn't read it at all. The half that read it liked it (but we all agreed that we hated the Chalfens, both in character and in their role in the narrative). Next up is Elizabeth Gilbert's The Signature of All Things!

I loved Life After Life so much I bought this the moment it came out, but like a weirdo I didn't want to start it because that means one day it will end. Taking the plunge now!
