When I picked up Uprooted, I was hoping it would break the reading slump I was in. Lately, everything I've read couldn't hold my attention long. So I went into this book with both hope and apprehension. I'm SO GLAD I listened to the Kinokuniya list recommending Uprooted. Agneiszka is a fascinating protagonist but Sarkan was a delight to know and Uprooted definitely gives new meaning to the line "the woods are lovely, dark and deep..."
