Soooo by the numbers, this was definitely my least successful #24in48 to date, as I only read three hours over the weekend and didn't finish a single book due to hopping around. However, that's at least two hours more than I probably would have managed otherwise, so I'm counting it as a win! Can't wait to participate next time (and hopefully more fully).

One of my favorite literary loot items is this HPA mug! I love the design (and the quote, of course), and it makes a great bookmark container. #24in48

So I continue to be waayyyyyy behind on #24in48 - I've only read an hour and a half so far because I realized last night that I still needed to catch up on sleep (and then slept for 12 hours). I decided I'm not going to set a new goal; just keep reading and see how far I get. I do have a meeting in an hour, so in the meantime I'm going to start rereading one of my favorite books. 😊

I'm starting #24in48 verrrry late due to life and needing some extra sleep, but I still made it! I'm starting with The Yiddish Policemen's Union, which I'm rereading for Life's Library, but since I'm planning on reading it section by section I may jump around between it and other books. I think I'm going to aim for reading 12 hours, so we'll see how it goes!

Candles are excellent reading companions! ? I'm at 19.5 hrs and am obviously not going to hit 24 by the official deadline, but I think I'll keep reading until I do. #24in48

Since my last post, I finished Fly on the Wall (fun and smart and exactly what I needed) and The House of Broken Angels. The latter was one of those "it's not you, it's me" books - well-written and compelling, and I liked it, but it still didn't quite hit the spot for me.

I wanted another audiobook to listen to it so I could go on a snack run and do a few chores around the house without losing reading time, and I thought some short YA would be a good fit. So far, so good - and 14 hours of reading down! #24in48

Pickpick

I cleaned my kitchen counter and colored most of a page while listening to How to Be Black, which is both one of the best books I've read this year and one of the best audiobooks I've read, period. Thurston mixes humor, satire, and serious political thought flawlessly, and I'm so glad I "read" it in audiobook form. #24in48

I had to take another nap, so I'm currently rather behind at 8 hours and 40 minutes. I decided it'd be good to start an audiobook I've had in my Audible library for a while, and I can already tell it was a good choice. Now to go get some popcorn, honey lavender cold brew and a coloring book... #24in48

Took a good nap after finishing In the Woods, got a snack, and now I'm about to start The House of Broken Angels. I'm not sure whether it's what I'm in the mood for, but I'll find out soon and put it aside if it's not. At any rate, it's at least shorter than In the Woods - I'm not quite ready to read another 600-pager in one go. #24in48

Finished my first book after nearly six hours of reading (including a fair bit of paging back and forth trying to figure out what was really going on)...oof. Very very good. It's one of those books where the ending is the right one, but still hard to read. #24in48

One of the things I love about Tana French is her ability to relieve the building tension and unease with passages that give me giggling fits. I don't think her books would be nearly as enjoyable without the bits of levity, and it never feels like it's hitting an off note or out of place. #24in48

Starting late because my nap lasted longer than it was supposed to...but here we go! I was already 105 pages into In the Woods and so far I'm liking it, but not quite as well as The Likeness. Nonetheless, I think it'll keep me going! #24in48

#24in48 is starting in a few hours, and I can't wait! I have plenty of library books to keep me going, and some e-books checked out as well....plus some books I own and haven't read yet. And some I'm in the middle of, etc. etc. 😜 I don't find a formal TBR that helpful, but I like to have lots of options!

Sace I can't wait either! 6y
2BR02B I really want to do a formal TBR because I deeply enjoy checking items off lists, but I'm way too much of a mood reader. Instead I just have a long list of reading ideas. 6y

#24in48 is over, and I had a great time! I spent 11 hours and 49 minutes reading this past two days, which I'm very pleased with. The books, in the order I read them: Not Working, Mandela, Eligible, The Stone Gods, Graffiti, and Poems for Eva. My favorite was definitely Eligible, though Poems for Eva and The Stone Gods were also excellent. I'm hoping this weekend spurs me to continue reading more - happy reading!

#24in48 update: So far I've read Not Working by Lisa Owens, Mandela: An Audio History by Desmond Tutu, and Eligible by Curtis Sittenfeld for a total of 9 hours and 30 minutes. Not bad so far, considering my semi-unofficial goal is 12 hours! And as for Eligible, it's the clear favorite so far - at least as funny as the original and very cleverly adapted - I actually *liked* quite a few of the changes she made, which is definitely unusual for me.

My first book for the #24in48 readathon! Starting a little late (CT) because my meal prep for tomorrow ran a little long.
