After several quick reads I was ready for something more complex and well crafted, this book did not disappoint! A must read for Lehane fans.

This book was a gift from my kiddo, she ordered it online and told me to stop by Barnes & Noble for a surprise!
I LOVE how this story finished up! The Perfect Son has been my favorite of FM, but this one is right there with it. #🐢
I‘m on chapter 8 and I can‘t help but get this image in my head every time it mentions that Dawn likes turtles..lol.. 🐢😂
I absolutely loved this book! There‘s so much I could say but I wouldn‘t want to spoil it for anyone. I was hooked from the beginning and thought the killer was pretty obvious but I was so wrong! As usual, Freida put her brilliant spin on it!
This has been my favorite read of 2024 so far. It wasn‘t a super quick read which is what I was wanting. The other cool part was the story took place in the early 80s so there were some great references that jogged my childhood memories. The story line was well crafted with lots of moving parts, and the twist at the end was fantastic. I was not disappointed!
I‘m not sure how I feel about this book. I was hooked until the very end, but it got too far fetched which was disappointing. 🫤
I picked this up from Edward McKays used book store in Winston-Salem. Finished it in a weekend, absolutely couldn‘t put it down. Freida is great at psychological thrillers, but nothing too crazy where you feel like a nut after reading them! Love her writing!
I absolutely LOVED this book! If you haven‘t read this yet, it‘s a must read! The way Freida pulled the story line all together is mind blowing, I closed the book at the end and said “yes ma‘am that‘s a good book”!!
I loved the characters so much, this was the perfect follow up to ‘It begins with us‘. It will make watching the movie that much sweeter! I love the new character intro that impacts Atlas, it added a nice touch to the story line.
I like the writing style of FM, this was a quick and easy read. I was slightly underwhelmed after finishing however, the twist came in the last few chapters and it was over so fast, I felt like it was lacking a punch. Overall it was a good book, I have two more of hers to read.
Immediate response to this book. I understand CH as an author in a whole new light now. After reading Verity, I ‘needed‘ this book and her notes from the author. I am in awe! ♥️
Colleen, how in the world did you come up with this story line!? Messed me up is all I can say!! Please do a new story about Crew and Nova, I have to know how they turn out as adults!! 👏👍🤔 Now I‘m starting ‘Too Late‘ and I‘m a bit scared! 😱
First book in the Palmetto Island series by Farley. A co-worker recommended her books and I‘m so glad! Getting ready to start on the second book! I love the sweet story line, women supporting each other and making the best of what they are handed. Nice relaxing read!
I slowed down for Grayson. He shuffled to keep up, his boot scrapping the asphalt. I felt better once we had stepped into the trees, into cover-that was in my blood, the impulse to hide, to sneak. If you kept secrets for a living, you start keeping them all the time. You kept secrets for practice, for no reason at all.
I ran across this title after listening to the Dateline podcast that covered the story. This is one fantastic lady, and her story was well written. The fabrications (to put it mildly) her husband came up with were unbelievable, and this was pre internet so she couldn‘t just google him. Once she found her power, I couldn‘t put it down. Great read!
Murder comes down to sex, drugs, or money. Got this in the mail today, can‘t wait to read it! Love me some Joe Kenda. (and it‘s autographed!) 🙌
Just finished and I really enjoyed this read! Based in Australia, a struggling town comes to grips with a murder and suspicion from a past murder. The characters were interesting and each played a vital role in the discoveries. I was drawn to the Authors writing style in the first page which is rare for me. I found this at the Old Book Barn in Forsyth, Illinois. Great Read! Now onto another Jane Harper…The Lost Man.
It‘s a Lifestyle, It‘s a Religion.
As a huge Gilmore Girls fan I was super excited to listen to Lauren read her book. It didn‘t disappoint. And honestly before this book I wasn‘t a fan of AYITL, however now can watch it with a new set of eyes. Lauren is just awesome!
I re-read this with my daughter for her Freshman ELA class. This book is my all time favorite and I hope it remains one of hers. I have to say though, reading this out loud (skipping over quite a few words we absolutely won‘t say) has been challenging and pretty comical, the southern slang was hard to read much less try to say out loud!! 🤣
Ok, I‘m only on page 55 and I‘m wondering how these children have survived so far! 😳 They are either really tough or really lucky!
My Dad has always said “The breakdown of our country happened when large companies closed”, which drew me to this book. It‘s a Memoir of a young man who made it out of a stagnant physical and mental place that many do not. Very interesting read. I laughed out loud at some of his Grandmother‘s antics, she was quite a character.
This was one of my recommendations on Audible, and I‘m so glad it was! Between the poetic writing style of the author and the relaxing tone of the reader (also the author), I stayed in a constant state of Zen while listening. The reading of the stand off with the bear and eventual attack made the hairs on my neck stand up. A great listen!! #survival #wilderness
Loved this book! I am drawn to stories of survival and adapting to nature, and this certainly covers the intensity of Leni‘s family moving to Alaska in the 70s. Leni found herself, her Dad was tortured by the darkness, and her mother suffered in a time when battered women weren‘t taken seriously until it was too late. Heartbreaking, joyous, and beautifully written.
Oh my gosh you guys, this book is simply breathtaking, from the first word through the very last. I won‘t give any spoilers because I want whom ever reads this book to feel what I am feeling now. Beautiful Beautiful story!! ❤️
As a mom of a teenager I was curious about the “whys” of teen behavior rather than dismissing it as “ just what teenagers do”. This book is absolutely fascinating, diving into the actual brain, comparisons between male and female brain development, effects of drugs, alcohol and concussions on the brain and much much more. I feel more aware of what is happening as my teen grows and matures. Excellent read for parents and neuroscience enthusiasts!
I don‘t believe there will ever be a time when this book is not relevant. The irony is bursting from the pages and tells a lot about “human” nature. I still have a few remaining questions about what actually happened to Snowball the pig and his “reported” actions against the Animal Farm. I was also hoping for a few more details at the end, however we can pretty much guess where it leads. Very good read!!! M/9th
I finished the Netflix series and got major addicted to the Longmire stories. Can‘t wait to get started!!
“I find myself in the position of having to console them. Since I‘m the person going in to be slaughtered, this is somewhat annoying”. I love Katniss so much! My Thirteen year old said “Mom, you HAVE to read this”! And she was right...the books are awesome. The movies are good but there is so much more to know!
I finished the audiobook, and it left hungry for more of the same! I am currently watching the old TV series “Highway to Heaven” as it has that same peacefulness that is so prevalent in “The Shack”. I recommend this Book to anyone and everyone!!
I have tried on multiple occasions to sit down and read this book, I had a hard time getting past what I had heard about it before I even got started, which is interesting because one of the points of the book so far challenges our preconceived perception of God also. I am about 4 hours through the audio book and am completely engrossed in it, I keep going back to hear parts again to gain a better understanding. Lovely, can‘t wait to finish it!
Found this gem at ‘The Old Book Barn‘ in Forsyth, Illinois, can‘t wait to dig in!
I am officially hooked on Kristin Hannah. The Nightingale is a beautiful read!
Picked up my first Kristin Hannah Novel today. Also picked up Brave by Rose McGowen because I want to read about her story of growing up in a cult. #brave
Two spectacular ladies teaming up!!
#jenniferpharrdavis #cherylstrayed
This true story revolves around Mary Lee Orsini who lied and manipulated her way through life even as a child. The murder was one of the biggest events to happen in Arkansas since the Little Rock nine in 57‘, and took place during the Urban Cowboy club craze. The surrounding characters are larger than life, ‘the good ole boys‘ including Tommy Robinson who was appointed Director of Public Safety by Bill Clinton. Thoroughly enjoyed this read!!
I just finished this and have mixed feelings. The beginning took off and the ending was good, however I had a hard time staying focused in the middle. The story line was good, a ‘what would you do‘ situation. I am still glad I finished it and am happy overall with how things ended up.
My first Audible listen!..hmm..this should be interesting! 🤔Any thoughts on this book from my Litsy friends? 😀

Loved loved me some Granny Gatewood!! I mean this woman rocked it when she gained her independence from an abusive husband and proved over and over how badass she was! And in only a pair of Keds!! #grandmagatewood
Brew Davis gives a daily log while his wife Jennifer goes for the speed record on the Appalachian trail. I liked this read because it was something I could read each night when I only had a few minutes to spare. Brew gives a descriptive of life on the Pit Crew which was to keep us with Jennifer! No easy task! #jenniferpharrdavis
As an ongoing fan of Jennifer, I follow her posts on Instagram and missed out on meeting her last year at a book signing. ( couldn‘t leave work early enough) Thru-Hikers can also be described as machines, adventurers, and extremely driven, and this describes Jennifer in her travels! Thoroughly enjoy that she shares her journeys. #odyssa #jenniferpharrdavis
What can I say about this book, when I saw hiking the PCT was made into the Gilmore Girls story line, I knew it had a massive influence on women everywhere. Cheryl opened her life which at times was very ugly, however through her pain and personal struggles came this beauty of a book. Will always be one of my all time favorites!! #cherylstrayed #wild
I see stories in movies and read them in books like this. It is still unbelievable to me that people could actually be influenced to live this way. It just shows how people are searching for something and often fall victim to others who hold an evil strength. Must read for anyone who finds interest in religious cults. #jonkrakauer
This book is centered around Missoula Montana however represents the mindset of many towns across the country. As a mom it was difficult to read this book however it is better to be aware and educate our children. Jon did a tremendous amount of research which I find he does with all of his writings. #jonkrakauer
I understood more about Chris McCandless after reading this book. Carine was brutally honest about her family and it makes me wonder what their family relationship is like now after this book. I think she had to honor her brother and the questions many had as to why he did what he did. #carinemccandless
I connected with Chris so much while reading this book. He wanted so much for his life to be real and without pressure to live someone else‘s expectations. He had the desire however not the tools he needed, it‘s unfortunate how his story unfolded but magnificent all the same. #jonkrakauer
This was the book that started it all for me, went on to read several mountaineering books. Reading this book takes you to Mt. Everest and the life and death situations that actually occurred. Love Jon Krakauer. #jonkrakauer #intothinair
Most recent book I finished, and of course followed directly up with the movie. This book blew my mind, it honestly kept me in a dark place until I finished it. Dennis Lehane knows how to take you right where he wants your emotions to be! #mysticriver #dennislehane
