Look what I just got! I‘m excited but at the same time my expectations are LOW ....the quality of this series has just decreased with each book 📚

AuthorJensenReed Agreed. But so far I really like her 4y

Alice in Wonderland | Lewis Carroll

Panpan

As a longtime fan of many Alice in Wonderland related things, I decided it was finally time to read the actual novel by Lewis Carroll. I really wanted to love it but sadly, the original source material just doesn't do it for me. It was boring to read and I was so so so disappointed by it. It may be unfair to judge in comparison to the movie but I found that so much of the charm I'd seen in the animated movie version, just wasn't there in the book.

Pickpick

The pacing is good, the plot is great and the characters are developed perfectly. I particularly like what Miller did with John Proctor‘s character, I enjoyed analyzing his actions in comparison to his concept of himself. Abagail is also interesting to analyze but I found her to be a less complex character and I was content with what happens to her in the end. John Proctor also got a fitting end but in a different way than Abigail.

1. I‘ve always wanted to travel to Japan, there are no plans but it‘s always been something I wanted to do.

2.This week I‘m grateful I saw my sisters, we don‘t see eachother much because of Covid-19

Powered_By_Plants Would love to do Japan too! Mostly for the official Pokemon Center 😆 4y
bookish_words I didn‘t even know the official Pokémon center was a thing ? whenever I thought of going I just thought like tourism in general - like landmarks, food, culture, etc. 4y

Thanks for the tag @Powered_By_Plants hope your reading is coming along
This month I‘m looking forward to reading The First Time she Drowned- I was told that it was a guaranteed cry and I‘m in the mood to be destroyed.
My favorite thing to do in the summer is relaxing and taking time for myself.
Something that made me smile recently was watching Avatar the last air bender with my significant other

Thanks @Powered_By_Plants for tagging me 😊
1. I‘m writing this from the armpit of SoCal 👋
2. My favorite lockdown read is The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, it was nice reading something new yet familiar
3. My ideal novel length is around the 300 page mark, I can do 500 page books with not much difficult but prefer a nice 200-300 pg. book
4. @ShyBookOwl

ShyBookOwl Thx for the tag! I already played 4y

I‘m 60% through and I‘m still wondering why this book is getting so much hate - like yes it‘s not as good as the original Hunger Games Trilogy but it‘s not terrible and I‘m really enjoying it. I‘ve been re-reading a lot of stuff and this is like the first book I‘ve read that is completely new to me

MidnightBookGirl I loved this book! I loved seeing the Capital and the Hunger Games before they both evolved into what we see in the trilogy. I loved watching how things unfolded. And I liked that Snow wasn't an easy character to like, but you could understand his drive to succeed. And I loved the supporting characters. I picked this for our Adult YA club at the bookstore for June, and I can't wait to discuss it! 4y
Powered_By_Plants I finished this yesterday and loved it , as a huge fan of the HG series I went in almost knowing it wouldn‘t come close maybe that helped 🤷‍♀️. It was fascinating knowing snow‘s back story and as @MidnightBookGirl said you can understand his drive . Loved Lucy and the covey and the added ballads and songs. I had to go and watch The hunger games film last night , tonight it‘s catching fire 🤩 can‘t wait! 4y
bookish_words @Powered_By_Plants yeah I didn‘t expect it to be as good as Hunger Games which is why I think I can enjoy this one - but honestly I was thrown for a loop, when the book was announced all I heard was excitement for it but then when it came out everyone was like - I knew it was going to be trash but I still wasted my time reading it 4y
bookish_words @MidnightBookGirl yes all the stuff you mentioned is why I‘m enjoying it! It‘s just interesting to see the games evolve and the ideas for how to change them are developing - I still have to finish it 4y

Mehso-so

Not so much “a-MAZE-ing” …….

Riding the high of finishing the entire Maze Runner Trilogy film adaptations, I picked up the first book in the series. At the time, I was really trying to get back into the habit of reading, but I just hadn‘t found the right book yet. I was hoping, since I enjoyed the movies so much, that this would be that book. While it was not a terrible first choice, it definitely did not have that “it” factor.

bookish_words Finally put up my first book review on my blog 5y
LibrarianRyan I loved the movies but it was pulling teeth to get through book 1. And I read it before the movie. But I love the movies. 5y
bookish_words @LibrarianRyan I wasn‘t planning on reading it but I loved the movie so much I thought, it can only get better from here. Sadly, I can relate all to well to what you said about “pulling teeth” with this book. I hit the 4 month mark reading it, which is a lot for me. 5y

I went into a reading slump for no reason, so I decided to just ride the wave - was about to pick up a new book but was informed that I could expect this book in the mail!
