I don‘t know how I managed 27 years of life without having read this classic. I wish that I had read it as a child, I think I would have really loved it. I have a wonderful imagination still as an adult, but found the characters and narrative rather irritating... the illustrations of this book are marvellous though!

What a weird, strange, fascinating book. Diary entries of a girl who collects fairies by squishing them between the pages of her book, like pressing flowers. Lots of illustrations of squished fairies, so you‘ll need a good sense of humour! Captivating all the same!

Stick with this book! It can be a little bit confusing, you jump around in time and to many characters, but it is SO worth it if you stick it out, it will all make sense and tie together! Don‘t go into this expecting a romance or love story either. This is a fantastical, magical adventure that just happens to include love. I finished it last night and I am immediately beginning it again!

This is my most favourite book of all time! I reread it all of the time. It is beautiful and magical with such a great message woven into it. It is the most meaningful book I‘ve ever read and I recommend it to all grown ups! I have several copies that I‘ve written and highlighted in and my most special copy.

I actually finished reading this over a month ago, but it was a bit of a drag by that point and I only wanted to finish it to have completed the series. I‘m sure I would have really loved this book as a child who adored Enid Blyton stories!

Again, it was never a favourite of mine as a child, but I still wanted to revisit the series for nostalgic purposes. The second book, in my opinion, was less magical and exciting than the first. Not entirely sure why but I felt it was rushed and didn‘t really stand out at all from the first one. I will continue the series for the sake of it though!

This book seemed a lot more magical and adventurous when I was a young child. Still it was very nostalgic to go back and reread it as an adult. It was never a favourite of mine as a child, not like the wishing chair adventures, but it was still nice to revisit.

For an almost 28 year old adult, I LOVE this book! It makes my heart swell and I laugh out loud each time that I read it. I‘m going back and rereading a lot of my childhood favourites at the moment. I always saw a lot of myself in Matilda growing up. A family who didn‘t like/see me, a love for books and knowledge at an extraordinarily young age. And Miss Honey, well she is my childhood hero!

What a beautiful story about kindness, acceptance and bravery. I definitely cried a few times whilst reading. Auggie is an amazing little dude who shows the world that it is what is on the inside that counts. This is an inspiring and uplifting book in which goodness wins out against hate and many life lessons are dished out.

Courage is knowing that you are going to lose, even before you begin, but standing up for what is right anyway. I reread this novel each year in memory of my best friend, Hannah. We read it together during high school, discussed our way through it and both absolutely loved and cherish it. When we were 18 she passed away. This particular book actually belongs to another friend of mine, as my very special copy of this book is packed away right now.

The super inaccuracy really lets this book down, and I get that the book was probably trying to show the irony of war. What goes around comes around, blah blah blah. But what it really seems to send the message of is that the tragedy is not the millions of innocent Jews that were senselessly murdered but the one German son of the nazi soldier who ‘didn‘t belong in the camp‘ and ‘didn‘t deserve to die‘ - this book just rubbed me the wrong way.

I struggled with this one. It is a longer read than you first expect due to small text. It is very slow, the narrator going back and forth so much I found myself getting frustrated. It is very detail heavy, which I usually don‘t mind, however, I didn‘t quite find that it worked in this novel for me. So much goes on in this book that it scattered my brain a bit. I have, however, only heard great things from others who read this book!

This is a book from my childhood that I reread quite often. Growing up, I saw so much of myself in Fern. I still do, however, I now also see parts of myself in Wilbur and Charlotte. The natural world is beautiful and mysterious and so full of miracles. Friendship is a sacred, special thing that enriches our lives, making them fuller. It is a rare and beautiful thing I longed for so much my entire life.

A fantastic dystopian read! I love the message of standing up for what you believe in. It made me think a lot about what the world would be like without books. This isn‘t so much a story of book censorship and more of digital bombardment rotting our brains and stopping us from developing meaningful connections with others and intellectual thoughts. A fast-paced quick read, I couldn‘t stop turning the pages, needing to know what would happen next!

Historical fiction isn‘t usually my go to genre, however I‘ve always been fascinated by the inventions of the 1800‘s and more specifically Nikola Tesla himself. This story was even more fascinating than I imagined and I really loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter as well!!

Magical. Superb. Mysterious.
I was hesitant to read this book, based on the reviews labelling it as overly wordy and hard to process/read. However, I really enjoyed it!! I quite like descriptive stories that allow me to perfectly paint a picture of the scene inside of my head. The plot was of course what drew me in and kept me interested. A boy is pulled into a mirror, something else comes out. Who isn‘t intrigued by magic mirrors and carnivals?

The amazing, fast-paced adventure with total badass, Jane Doe, continues! Absolutely love the adorable and awkward relationship between Jane and Violet. We definitely need more LGBTQ representation in books for younger readers. This is such a beautifully written story and though I‘m not the target audience, I really enjoyed it and was so wrapped up in the action and connected to the characters. Captivating and easy to read, I highly recommend!

This is my second time reading this book as it‘s been a while and I wanted a refresher before reading the sequel. It‘s just as great the second time! A beautiful fast-paced magical adventure set in a labyrinth of moving rooms and boobytraps. Jane is blunt, smart mouthed and quick witted. I love everything about these characters and the writing and the way that each page keeps me wanting more.

I really love a good magical adventure. The film has been a favourite of mine for some time and I had no idea it was adapted from a book. I received the book for Christmas and so I was naturally super excited to dive in. A quick read, only took me roughly six hours to complete. Neil Gaiman creates such a beautiful little world where everything is wonderful and exciting. A perfect read for during lockdown! (Completed 11th Jan 2021)

This one picks up where A Map Of Days left off, so being able to continue the adventure right away was great, and overall I do really enjoy the series. However, it appears that there may be a sixth book and I personally hope that it will be the last. Unless something spectacular happens, I feel that the peculiars have run their course. This book was still a nice read, but I did not find it as exciting as its predecessors. (Completed 10th Jan 2021)

Yet another magical and exciting adventure! Quite the cliffhanger though so I‘m glad that I can immediately continue the journey with the fifth book, a conference of birds. Riggs seems to cram so much adventure into his books that I often forget that the time frame of all of these books is still only a year or so. Fantastic writing with so many twists and turns. I really enjoy this series! (Completed 9th Jan 2021)

I found the first part of this book fascinating as I have always been very interested in the first hominids. As the book went on I found it to drag on a bit and I started to lose interest. Overall there were some very interesting concepts though. (Completed 7th Jan 2021)

This book was everything I thought it would be and more!! I fell in love with characters, I hated characters, I mourned them, I rooted for them! Absolutely brilliant writing with lovely themes and development of characters and plots. This will be going in my to reread pile! LOVE! (Read Dec 23rd 2020 - Jan 4th 2021)
