Everyone should read this novel at least three times in their life. Everything that can be said about it has already been said I'm sure. But it can't be said enough- this is a masterpiece of American literature.

DivineDiana I agree wholeheartedly! 9y

I read this book one quiet, hot summer. I loved it more than I anticipated. I'll never forget the image of a person sitting at the base of a tree looking up at the fruit and hesitating to pluck one, trapped in the plethora of choices. A melancholy, slow, novel. Maybe not for all, but i loved it.

Such a page turner! This book sucked me in like almost no other book. You could call it a murder mystery, but it's so much more than that. It's a deeply philosophical novel, one to read over and over again.

One of my very favorite books- Virginia Woolf is a true gem. This book is a bit hard to stick with at first due to its experimental form, but if you stay with it, you'll discover Woolf's flowing, radiant prose and keen eye for truth. A book that awakens one to the inner lives of others.

The art world can be intimidating, especially for people like me who want to learn, but know almost nothing. This book was an amazing introduction. It's a friendly, non-judgmental, accessible read with tons of pictures. A nice survey of mostly western art. A must read for novices.

Started my first Haruki Murakami read last night! 32 pages in and both pleasantly confused and intrigued by this book.
