Promising concept and not a good execution in my opinion. Stale characterization and somewhat predictable. I did like the science parts but overall the story dragged on and on.

annahenke Interesting - this is on my Kindle! Thanks for the review. 3y
Sherlockmarie @annahenke you‘re welcome. If you end up reading it, let me know what you think. It had a very high rating so I was a little surprised I didn‘t care for it. 3y
annahenke @Sherlockmarie I will! I have heard good things as well, so was intrigued to hear a different take! I‘m not a big horror reader but thought I would try this based on the premise. We‘ll have to see! 3y

Night Music | Jojo Moyes

Pickpick

This is my first JoJo Moyes book which has inspired me to read more of her work Intriguing storyline kept me turning pages especially once past the first few chapters.. There was some predictability but also some surprises to be had. I liked the variety of personalities and the Poe-type flair it had (you may see what I mean ifyou read it). Overall a solid 3-1/2 stars for me. Now the question is, which JoJo Moyes book do I follow with?

terryduncan5719 After You, is a solid book. There are three is this series. The last one has a predictable ending. After I finished that I was disappointed, because it seemed like the author was making a movie ending and she was hoping someone would buy movie rights. But I did enjoy all of them and will add this one to the list. 2y

The Handmaid's Tale | MARGARET. ATWOOD
Pickpick

The writing is poetically beautiful. I haven‘t enjoyed a dystopian novel so much since 1984 or Fahrenheit 451. I‘m looking forward to reading the sequel. I have yet to see the tv series. The question is, should I?

terryduncan5719 I didn't read the book, bit I did love the series! 2y

Apples Never Fall | Liane Moriarty
Pickpick

Overall this story kept me on edge. I enjoyed the character development and pacing. The ending was not tidy but I actually prefer that when appropriate and it was appropriate here. Enjoyable, quick read or should I say listen. Loved the narrator‘s Australian accent which added to the pleasure of listening.

This book kept me in suspense and I thoroughly enjoyed the Shakespearean and Star Trek references. Parts of this book sent chills up my spine. The ending almost reminded me of The Giver. It was a book club read and I finished it much quicker than I had anticipated.

terryduncan5719 It definitely had more of an impact because of COVID! As you said, the Shakespeare references were enjoyable and the character development was interesting. How would we have fared in THAT world? 3y
Sherlockmarie I wonder. I think we would have been part of the troupe. We are both hopeful people and I‘d like to think we would continue to be so 3y

The Dead Zone | Stephen King

A bit slow in the middle but great character development. Not scary at all but reads more like a thriller near the end. Now I‘d like to watch the show.

terryduncan5719 The series is excellent! 3y

Ghost Story | Peter Straub
Pickpick

Not finished yet but enjoying the writing style immensely. I also love how Mr Straub is intertwining all of these characters‘ stories.
