How relevant. #CBAM2017
It has been 8 months since the Pulse massacre in Orlando. Thought I would be ready to read this... but 20 pages in my eyes are blurry and my cheeks are drenched.

Kicking off the new year with this 1932 LGBT novel. Possibly one of the first American novels with a trangender protagonist.
January's book selection for #CBAM2017 is Little Women by Louisa May Alcott! A Goodreads Group has been created, and other things related to the Club will be hosted at Roof Beam Reader.
I have been feeling pretty emotional over the loss of Carrie Fisher. Might be a really good time for this, or a very bad time. Dunno. But I'm diving in.
This trilogy is fantastic. I wish everyone would read it.
Odd, disjointed and mostly unsuccessful, but an important artifact of gay American lit (1903 - coded but obvious enough). Stoddard had friendly relations with Mark Twain, William Dean Howells, and Rudyard Kipling among others.
It has been snowing for two days, and I managed to finish the latest dissertation chapter ONE day ahead of schedule. So, I am celebrating with Seneca and a cozy blanket. #Stoicism #Perspective
Pretty creepy tale, great for Halloween. Writing is a bit labored.
Keep trying to read this series but never get passed book 2 (this one). It's ok, but I don't understand the mass appeal.
Important story about a transgender youth and a friendship built with another youth suffering from severe loss and mental trauma. Powerful and much needed diversity... wish the story had been a bit better crafted, and the writing as well.
Excellent, moving story about Stevenson's work to reform the criminal justice and prison systems.
Very grateful for this graphic novel on the Civil Rights movement in 1960s America, from John Lewis. Looking forward to reading parts 2 & 3.
Powerful, poignant, and important. At times painful, but necessary.
Interesting selection of excerpts from Nietzsche's various works, discussing the concept of truth.
One of the best pieces of literary fiction published in the last 15 years. Impressive.
Currently reading for #TheLiteraryOthers. 1933 gay modernist pulp novel... pretty odd so far.
My first book for #TheLiteraryOthers event (beginning tomorrow at Roof Beam Reader!) is this 1931 queer pulp novel about homosexuality in Harlem during the Jazz Age.
Latest purchase... when will I have time to read it? lol
I have always imagined that Paradise will be a kind of library. -Jorge Luis Borges (I'm at a bookstore, but the sentiment stands!)
Reading this for the second time in 3 months (because I'm writing about it). 4th read in general. Not complaining!
