A scholarly edition of a "lost" queer modernist novel A Scarlet Pansy by Robert Scully first published in 1932 and out of print since 1933. This new edition recovers the novel's literary and historical significance, obscured by later editions which either eliminated the novel's richly detailed descriptions of the early twentieth-century queer demimonde or masculinized its transgendered protagonist Fay Etrange, by reprinting the original 1933 Faro edition. Edited and with a substantive scholarly introduction by Robert J. Corber which locates the novel in its literary and historical contexts, untangles its complicated publication history, and illuminates its importance.
