Reading while watching sprints!!
Reading while watching sprints!!
TW: Yesterday was the birthday of my best friend who committed suicide. I was walking through the library and stumbled across Cemetery Boys. The quote inside made my heart ache... 💜
This book has me confused. It‘s as if I‘ve been thrust right in the middle of an already established story. Does it get any better? Or at least less confusing??
“Women and their bodies: the most toxic of relationships.”
It took me a while to get into this book. But by the end I was immersed in the author‘s life. Her parents never sent her to school yet she went on to Harvard. This story illustrates the strength it takes to sever yourself from a dysfunctional family, abuse, and restrictive mindset, and to walk single handedly and blindly into the world alone. And to not just survive the abuse, but to soar and succeed in a way almost impossible.
This book touched me so deeply. As someone who can relate to the main character, this book is so important to me. I felt understood by the wider world and comforted to know that others out there are also finding solace in this story. There were moments and words that I wished I could wrap up in a little box and hold with me forever.
“Im fine. So what if I watched tv for 24 hours straight yesterday. I‘m not falling apart I‘m just lazy. Why it‘s better to think yourself lazy then in distress I‘m not sure. But it was better.
“The skill I was learning was a crucial one, the patience to read things I could not yet understand.”
“ I understood that no future could hold them. No destiny could tolerate him and her. I would remain a child in perpetuity, always, or I would lose him.”
It‘s a quick read (or in my case, listen). I felt it was very informative without being repetitive or dense. The author presents lots of good info and tips. I wish I had a physical copy so that I could reference it. I recommend.
As someone who doesn‘t like historical fiction, I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed this a lot. The best parts are the writing style and characters. It makes me want to read more from this author. I was never bored by the plot but I did get confused by the side character at times. I have to agree with the consensus that the stakes weren‘t that high and things seemed to conveniently work out. But I‘m not mad about it lol. I enjoyed it overall.
Another book I listened to on Libby. I had previously DNF‘d this book years ago and now I regret it. Maybe it‘s cuz I‘m older now. It‘s so good honestly I can‘t do it justice. I was completely captivated and by the story and the world building. The audiobook brought a whole new dimension to it.
Finally finished this book after a long reading slump. It was a great escape for me. It‘s a fun and creative alternate ending to my favorite Disney princess‘s story. I loved the world building and the fleshing out of Aurora‘s character. I enjoyed the darker themes of depression as well. I‘d love to revisit this book in the future and it got me excited for the rest of the twisted tales.
This is very informative and eye opening; and an important book in our world. Even though it‘s a bit repetitive, I‘d recommend the 10th anniversary edition.

I‘ve been walking daily, some times even twice daily. But I really fell off on my reading... I‘ve just been lazy with that. I‘m feeling in such a slump lately. It‘d be a good thing for me to spend less time on social media.

#BFC28 One Week Check In!
I haven‘t walked everyday because of weather but I have waked most days and sometimes twice in a day. I‘ve been reading everyday. I‘m not sure if I‘ll meet my goal as I‘m not a fast reader but at least I‘m having fun with it!
I‘ve recently been getting into The Authenticity Project. In a world full people hiding who they are, this book is breath of fresh air. It makes me reflective on my relationships. How much do people really know about me? How many people -really- know me?
1. I‘ve read more! I was in reading slump before but now I have more time.
2. No, I‘ve been reading the same types of books.

It‘s day one of #BFC #BFC28 My goal is to read thee books in 28 days or 30 pages a day. I‘ll be tracking my pages read on Goodreads. I also want to keep a morning routine of walking everyday with my cousin on the phone with me. Today was our first day which lines up nicely with this challenge. I‘ll keep updating throughout the month.
Quarantine is the perfect time to dip into TBR piles. I‘m picking Once Upon a Dream, a Sleeping Beauty retelling that I took a break from a few months ago. I love all things Sleeping Beauty and so far it acts as a great distraction for me!
I wasn‘t tagged but I hope it‘s ok that I participate anyway! #fridayfun

First Post!
I‘ve had this book on my DNF shelf for years with the intention of completely reading someday. It‘s not that I didn‘t like it. Life happened! But now that I‘m attempting to finish it, I‘m just not sure I can get into it anymore. Years and experiences can change us. I‘m not the same person I was in 2015. I‘ll try to see if I enjoy it. But I may have to just let it go.
