The book has a great outline. However, the basis of the book is intuitive and a simple examination of the question will give the obvious answers he presents in the book.

Great book with a decent outline and strategic composition.
Great coming of age book following a boy discovering his sexuality. Although, I really did not feel invested in the characters until I finished 3/4 of the book. I think the characters are hyper aware of themselves, confused, and very sexual at the sacrifice of being relatable. I am also unsure how I feel about the age gap issue and libertine lgbtq characters. However, I still appreciate it as necessary in the ever expanding list of lgbtq books.
Great coming of age story told with Mexican-American twist. The candid nature of Diego Martinez's writing provides insight into both very carnal and alluring situations which ultimately make the book captivating and embarrassingly relatable. This book provides a unique perspective that makes it a must read and a beautiful peace of Mexican-American literature which analyzes the space between culture and patriotism in the lonestar state.
Great bildungsroman book. The book is told from the viewpoint of Aristotle (AKA Ari) as he navigates his way through a period of teen angst. The relationship Ari develops with a close friend (Dante) also causes him to confront his sexuality and withdrawn personality. The book portrays the discovery of sexuality within a Mexican-American household. The unique voice and innocence makes this read worthwhile and heartwarming.
