So far I‘m loving this adventure!

quote

‘Hold on,‘ said Chief Farrell. ‘I‘m duty officer this week and I want to see if the fire alarms go off.‘

They didn‘t.

‘That‘s good, isn‘t it?‘ I said.

He sighed. ‘No, it just means they‘ve taken the batteries out again.‘

This really was my sort of place.

I listened to the audiobook, which was beautifully narrated by the author, on a long drive to the Berkshires. It is a nice summer read, albeit a bit uneven, like the story won‘t stick with me for long afterwards. I haven‘t ready any other books by Joshilyn Jackson, but I love Southern authors so will try another one.

Fleishman Is in Trouble: A Novel | Taffy Brodesser-Akner
Panpan

Taffy Brodesser-Akner is a talented writer, but you wouldn't know it from this book. I listened to the audiobook - all 14 hours of it - & not once did I find any of the characters appealing. I kept listening because it got good reviews, at times could be insightful & I wanted to know what happened to his wife. However, despite my hope that it would get better, it dragged on & on & ultimately fell flat.

Listened to the above-tagged book while spending the day in my flowerbeds & vegetable garden. I‘m not sure if I actually like any of the characters but the plot is intriguing.

This wasn‘t my favorite ChLo book; I liked Roomies much better. This one just felt sad. What‘s your favorite ChLo book?

Because, sometimes you just want a deliciously steamy love story involving a sweet Irish lad.

Weight of Ink | Rachel Kadish
Pickpick

The author must have spent a decade researching this book. It was so interesting & dense that I was grateful I read it on my kindle so I could look up words as I read it. Had I known what a challenge it would be I might not have picked it up when I did. It was a fascinating glimpse into 15th century Europe & the Jewish experience. An incredible story. Definitely read it, but make sure you have the brain power available because it‘s rich & complex!

Lynnsoprano This has been one of my favorite books ever. 5y

Educated: A Memoir | Tara Westover
Pickpick

Difficult to read but impossible to put down. Educated is a powerful book about love and family and survival. It‘s a powerful story about a bold woman who understood the only way to escape was to educate herself.

RaimeyGallant Loved this book. And welcome to Litsy! #LitsyWelcomeWagon Some of us put together Litsy tips to help new Littens navigate the site. The Unhoneymooners | Christina Lauren
Pickpick

The “Unhoneymooners” is a cute romcom - didn‘t blow my hair back, but it was a light, amusing “listen” while I puttered in the garden.
