A riveting survival story of an (unknown to me) event from WW2. I appreciated the facts and photos at the end. Written in verse, it‘s a quick read. Perfect for middle-grade readers.

It‘s got history, a mystery and social issues galore. Lots of discussion points for your middle grade readers.
A magical, unique book about leaving one's childhood behind. I'm not sure how I feel about the ending. So many questions!
Tonight I dive into the first selection on our mock Newbery list. I can't wait!
So many cool under covers lately. I can't wait to start this one. Will it live up to the hype?
Delightful mystery set in 1920s NYC. Middle grade students will like this blend of art history, mystery and references to mythology. I enjoyed the "pluck, not luck" house maid protagonist and other cast of characters. Author's note proved especially interesting separating facts from fiction.
Just got a lovely surprise when I looked under the dust jacket. This should be nominated for an Undie Award. http://www.designofthepicturebook.com/theundies/
I'm only a few chapters in, but so far it's deliciously strange.
Loved this one! A tense read featuring a strong, likable protagonist, horrific bully, and an ending that wasn't expected. This book explores justice/injustice and at times made me second guess what I believed about the characters. Highly recommended!
Getting a head start on next school year's Newbery possibilities.
