I‘m not a fan of historical fiction, so I was skeptical about this historical fantasy. But, as I and those who recommended the book hoped, I was sucked in from the first chapter!
The characters are wonderful, their struggles are real, and the ink magic is intriguing. I typically buy books I‘m not sure I‘m going to like on Kindle. I‘m going to have to purchase a physical copy now!

Scarlet was a wonderful sequel to Cinder, adding in great new characters on top of those we‘d already met. Though I did indeed predict correctly whose side Wolf was truly on, I liked how the book keeps up the suspense through Scarlet‘s POV.

What a ride! Reluctant chosen ones, special powers, a telepathic connection to wolves (and a dog), fantasy creatures, and mystery. I enjoyed this book a lot, especially Jayden and Ethan. I have a soft spot for empaths and protective guys who aren‘t possessive alpha-males. And Westwind, because wolves ❤️ Super-excited to read the next book!

The first time I read this graphic novel, I decided it was one of my favorites. It‘s rather light on the action, but I suppose it‘s because the content demands a battle of philosophies more than of fists. I think the only thing I would really change about it is to take the ending speech from Kitty and Scott and give it to Kurt—a Catholic who truly believes the Word instead of twisting it to his own purposes like Stryker does. Still, a solid read.

Dude. This book was fun! Soft sci-fi Cinderella set after World War III in New Beijing, where Cinder is a cyborg due to a horrible accident and now she works as a mechanic. Then Prince Kai shows up with an secret-holding android needing to be fixed. And there‘s a plague. And a colony of telepaths/empaths on the moon whose queen is looking to gain control of Earth. What a blast!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The characters are relatable and lovable (I adored Pax!), and the concept of music as magic is really fun to explore. As a musician myself, I quite enjoyed the scenes at the conservatory in classes and private lessons; they made my musician's heart happy and nostalgic for when I was a music major in college. I'm excited to find out what happens next!

Wow! I got this audiobook with a free credit on Kobo, and I'm totally going to have to spend the money for a physical book now!

The action was fast-paced and gritty (got a tad too gory for me at two points, but both moved past quickly), the characters were believable and relatable, and the internal wrestling with beliefs and prejudices was beautifully executed. Loved this book!

I just love how Lewis can take any genre and use it to explore philosophy, theology, and the human psyche! Super-interesting, and I love Lewis' watery Venus.

Recommendations for HistFic that will hold the attention of one who hates history as a subject?

WWII is one of the few periods I‘m interested in, and I‘m a musician, so it made sense to try this book as I ventured into HistFic. Unfortunately, only a couple characters held my attention, the historical parts bored me, and the head-jumping within paragraphs was awful. Overall, the book was decent, but I don‘t know if I can make it through the 2nd 😕
