Pickpick

This is a story of a daughter of immigrants and how she navigates the ideals thrust onto her by her family and the world. Written in spoken word, Acevedo touch‘s on many topics many can relate to. I definitely will be recommending this book and am looking forward to reading more by this author. #review

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was in a bit of a reading slump when I came across Maehrers debut novel. It is a slow burn romantic comedy that touches base on some deeper themes:. grief, betrayal and misogyny. I enjoyed that comedy was woven into these themes (I tend to use comedy to process grief). This book got me out of my reading slump and I am looking forward to the next two books in the series.
