Just turned in my final project and my summer semester is over! Time to crack this open and get in all the recreational reading I can before fall starts in 2 weeks 😳

I literally had no idea this was based on a true story of Lale and Gita (🙈) until I read the the afterword and the authors note when I finished it... then cue the tears.
I loved the story, even if the writing was a little disjointed. But the ending? Hated it. It‘s a short novel, she could have easily added a few dozen pages to make it seem like she cared how it wrapped up.
I liked this better than so-so, so I rounded up, but it was definitely not love. I generally like this author, but I felt really disconnected with this one. I was really excited about the premise, but I feel like too much was crammed in and it lacked the hearty substance I so craved. Do I regret reading it? Nah. Would I ever read it again? Also nah.
Guilty pleasure party of 1 🙋🏼♀️ spent the majority of my day listening to this audiobook
I‘m currently in the middle of 2 books, both of which are upstairs. So I started a new one cause that seemed easier 🤣 officially kicking off #24in48
Starting a new book by the fire on a summer night is exactly where I want to be
I liked it, but I didn‘t love it like I thought it would. Erotica, little old ladies, English accents, murder, love and a pub. A perfect recipe, maybe it would have read better on pages than through audio? 🤷🏼♀️ still a fun book though.
Completely stepped out of my norm and reading this based on a B&N employee rec. I‘ve completed the look with this fancy receipt bookmark. 😆
Happy New Years Eve!
I mean it doesn‘t get more productive than this. Having my car detailed while I get to read. I call that a win
Easy breezy enough. Several plot lines, many of which were drawn out foreverrrr and then wrapped up too quickly. Better than so-so, but not a favorite
I accidentally went to Barnes & Noble today, and 3 new books jumped in a bag to go home with me 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ even though I haven‘t read the books from my last trip, because I keep checking out library books. So many books, so little time.
I usually read 2-4 books/month depending on life. Not a lot, but I try to keep a steady pace. On Aug 1st I realized I had 19 days to get in as much pleasure reading as I could before i go back to school full time.
I am currently reading book 4 & 5 of the month. There‘s still 3 books on my shelf I intended to read, before I was sidetracked with this crazy rich series. So here‘s to the next 1800ish pages so I can start my classes with no regrets 😆
This one was quick to get into because we already knew all the characters. This series makes me feel like I‘m on the inside... with direct access to the all gossip. I like being part of the in crowd, without actually being involved in any drama 😉
What I wish I was drinking: margaritas
What I‘m actually drinking: water
👎🏼😭😂
Also I‘m #TeamCharlieWu 😍
Yesterday I was on the struggle bus with this book, then I breezed through 150 pages last night. So I‘m up early, maybe I can knock this out this morning and turn it in when I stop by the library to pick up #2 later.
I‘ve been trying to read this for 2 wks, I spend more time staring at the cover, browsing litsy & FB book groups than I have with this book actually open.
I know, life‘s too short to read books you aren‘t interested in. But it has so many good reviews, I‘m sure I will enjoy it. I even put it aside & read 2 others. Now It‘s due in 5 days, the hold on it is long & to top it off, my hold for the sequel is ready for pick up today. I must persist!
This book gave me feels where I didn‘t expect it. The story spans from 1910 to the 1980‘s and covers the lives through 4 generations. The highs, the lows... so many lows, the Korean family faced was heartbreaking and thought provoking.... what would you do in each of their shoes? Would definitely recommend
I typically save audio books for driving (hello So Cal traffic) and walking the dogs. And this is one of those books, that I cannot stop listening to. I love everything about this book so far.
Well, I didn‘t make it to 24, but I did clock 12 hours, and that makes this my most successful (of 3) #24in48 readathon. I could have done a ton more, but this whole weekend was constant interruptions so I would lose my reading mojo and it slowed me down.
Regardless, I loved that I made more time this weekend to read with pleasure than I would have otherwise!
Sweet, but overall disappointed. She could have cut this in half and just added it to the next book. Nothing actually happened. It was a wrap up from the last and set up for the next. I expect more from Maas. #24in28
Coming up on the 24 hour/half way mark and I have all of 5 hours clocked. But in my defense i spent 4 hours with family and took a lovely 2 hour nap this evening 😆😆 will I get in 19 hours of reading in the next 24? Not hardly, am I going to pretend to try? Heck yeah I am 🎉 #24in48
I decided to put down CRA and start fresh this morning with a book I‘m more likely to devour in a single sitting. I‘m a sucker for the ACOTAR series. Again, Fiona tries to steal the show... and my bookmark. Maybe Lola will make an appearance later ☺️🐶 #24in48
I have the pleasure of being on the west coast so the night is young. I stopped for a snack, and miss nosy wants in on it. #24in48
Took this pic before the sun went down, spent an hour sharing conversation and drinks with my husband before I bow out to read read read!
Hour zero: anddddd we‘re off! #24in48
A sweet end to the Bright Side Trilogy. I terribly miss Kate Sedgwick, so I‘m a little biased on this book not being as fantastic as the first. But on its own, it was a fun love story.
Perfect weather for some porch sitting, coffee sipping & book reading.
And by the skin of my teeth, I finished my Goodreads 2017 goal. NOTHING compared to the people who read 100+ a year (how the heck do you do that? 😳) but this has been the most consistent 12 months of reading I've accomplished in 20 years.
Husband had a work function which means I get the best kind of solo date. I looooved Jen's early memoirs, hopefully this self published memoir stacks up to her old stuff.
This was an audio I bought a few months ago and just didn't completely connect with initially. I tabled it for another time, and this week gave it another try and I'm glad I did. It's a little slow but I loved the now and then chapters, they worked perfectly.
In 60 days we'll be moving 6,540 miles across the pacific leaving our wonderful little island we've called home for 6 years. Meanwhile, audio books are LIFE while I make it through this mess preparing to pack out.
Is it possible to equally like & dislike a book? I started it a couple months ago and grew bored with it and finally finished up this short read this weekend. It reads like a memoir, but it's fiction. It's not in chronological order which is fine, but I think it's part of what lost me in September. I liked the character even if she isn't meant to be liked, and I appreciated her journey. Even if she would hate me for saying that 😆
I finished this book several days ago, and just didn't have the words in me to review it. Serious book hangover, my friends. I absolutely loved this series and book 3 was definitely my favorite. Even if you think fantasy isn't your thing (cause it's not mine) this is a YA must read! I don't know what follows in the 2018 release but I cannot wait!
I cannot put this one down... Lola however, doesn't seem to hold to the same interest.
Nothing like a typhoon pounding on your little island all day for a perfect excuse to indulge in guilt free binge reading 🤓🌧💨💨💨🌀
I appreciated Feyre's personal development and her relationship with Rhys. She started out reminding me of a bratty teenager, but I suppose under the circumstances that she wasn't aware of, I couldn't blame her. I was glad she rose above and found herself.
The USO partnered with Heidi Murkoff and the What to Expect Foundation hosted their annual Special Delivery baby shower this weekend in Okinawa. It was an amazing event to be a part of, and Heidi is hands down one of the sweetest most caring people I've ever met.
I have a terrible confession, I prefer my kindle 10x over regular books. They're heavier to carry around, less convenient to hold, and I have the hardest time reading without perfect lighting. So tonight I'm holding the lamp a bit closer 🙈
I have everything I need for the long holiday weekend 💁🏼🍷🕯📗
New adult Fantasy? No thanks. Made up places with made up names? I'll pass. My instincts told me don't bother. I was so completely wrong. The farther I got entwined in Feyre's journey the faster I needed to know the fate of Tamlin, Lucien and the Spring Court.
So I've been hearing about this book/series forever. I kept postponing my library borrow on it for at least 6 months (not even joking) cause it's not my typical genre and never felt compelled to read it... ummmm Will someone explain WHAT TOOK ME SO LONG?! Almost half way through and I am hooked 😍
