“I‘m sick of not having the courage to be an absolute nobody” - J. D. Salinger
“I‘m sick of not having the courage to be an absolute nobody” - J. D. Salinger
This was the second J. D. Salinger book I ever read, after I completely fell in love with Catcher in the Rye. The characters are so flawed and unlikeable, yet there‘s something so relatable about their struggles in life. It‘s definitely one of those books I find myself going back to time and time again.
Quite literally one of the best YA books I have ever read. Period. It‘s a fairly lengthy book that I grabbed from the bargain section of the chapters I work at for $6! I honestly wasn‘t sure what to expect when I first picked it up but I very quickly got sucked in to the story. If I were to describe this book in three words they would be: cool, intense, and captivating. I HIGHLY recommend this one if you love sci fi with a historical background!!
I know this quote is horrendously overused in mainstream culture now, but having read this book almost a decade ago before the hipster “boom”, I still get shivers every time.
A beautiful quote from Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
If you‘re not well versed in the realm of urban fantasy, this is a great book to dip your toes in! While it is a bit of a slow burner, the character development kept my interest and curiosity peaked, and I found myself whizzing through the second half of the book.
Was super excited for this book since I adore the bachelor shows. Like others have said, it is more of a cliche self help book than anything and only has a few chapters regarding bachelor "secrets". It's easy language to read however and was mildly enjoyable.
I adore Gillian Flynn's writing style and this book still kept me intrigued with nicely paced cliffhangers, however having read this after Gone Girl I was a little disappointed with the storyline. The character development was incredible but this book fell a little flat for me.
Just picked up this book today after work. I work in a Chapters and couldn't resist leaving without it. It's a great Canadian read with satirical humour that could easily be understood by a clever 10 year old as the language is kept clean. The format is unique as it is simply letters to people, places, and things!
