I loved the transformation of romance tropes into something unpredictable. There was only one story I didn‘t love but the others were great. Sweet, short, and cheesy. They were diverse and at times arranged but that made it more interesting to finish each story.

Okay so this book hit a hard dive for me about 30% in but I stuck it out and it got better. Thank you for audiobooks though because had I been reading this with my eyes, I would have quit. I liked it in the end. It wasn‘t predictable.

Worked on this in Procreate while listening to the audiobook. It was better than I expected and did catch me by surprise. I‘ll check out the next book in the series because I liked this one. I‘ve been so picky lately too so I‘m surprised I liked it.

21 chapters in and I have a lot of opinions and most of them not good. Everything about this feels like a forced tie in which is why I‘m not usually a fan of prequels. It feels like it‘s trying too hard to be while wanting to stand on its own. I just don‘t know yet.

Eh. That's all I can really say. I wanted to like it but couldn't finish paperback or audiobook. So I quit.
Worked on this knit scarf/wrap while listening.

My husband read this book before I got the chance to. He liked it enough that he talked about it nonstop for a week. I share his enthusiasm after reading this book. I really enjoyed this and as a black woman with a white passing mother, i appreciated much of the honesty in this book. We need more books like this. I get kick ass black chicks in alt history which is rare and great. Love it. I feel seen.

MallenNC This was a great book! I‘m definitely reading the sequel. 5y

I enjoyed this book. More than I anticipated. I had a few eye brow raises but it was tragic but ended on a happy note.

Playing with watercolors while I listen to The Girl in Red.
I've listened to a lot of Christina Henry novels this year and of course, I'm enjoying this one too.
Trying to relax and get some me time in after a hectic week.

The emotional draw of this book is real. As a fiction writer, I had some issues here and there but all in all, good book. I couldn't put it down and read it in 3 days while going back and forth with another book (audiobook).

Already on a new book and for the last year, that's rare for me. Slowly trying to get back to feeling like myse.lf after chronic migraines and fibromyalgia.

So working on my blog while listening to some Mercy drama

The Mermaid | Christina Henry

I actually finished this the other day and can't stop thinking about it. I enjoyed this book a lot and really love Christina Henry's style. The way she writes, there is a lesson in her words, for everyone and for her characters.
I hadn't expected many of the turns in this book. Feministic, while questioning the humanness of humanity. What makes a mermaid different than a human woman? Or a fish?

Painted this while listening to the audiobook.

Didn't know what to expect from this one but I am enjoying this very much

I surprisingly enjoyed this book. Okay well, it reminded me of when my kids were little and I was apart of a birth club and we were all insanely obsessed with babywearing. Their would be feuds and petty fights and backstabbing. So for me this was relatable in a way. We all had our own stories behind our group of crazy baby wearing ladies.

It wasn't insanely predictable and I enjoyed it. I've been a few of these women.

I wanted to love this book and even thought I would because I love her Blog but just couldn't get through this one. And its not because I don't understand mental illness but everyone experiences it differently. I just felt there was more ramble than I could take. It had its moments but not enough for me. So I quit at Chapter 28 with 2 hours and 44 minutes. I can see why so many people love it but it just wasn't for me.

I've had this for awhile and am just starting to listen to this on Audible. I hope I enjoy it and that there is something I can takeaway from it.

I don't read poetry very often but I think I will start. I enjoyed this so much. It spoke to me in so many ways like an understanding friend and I so very deeply needed this book. I needed it. It held me when I needed to be held. Thank you Rupi Kaur.

Very much enjoyed this continuation to Alice. I love what Christina Henry does with her books. They have this insider sense of understanding. Cause and effect, how consequences are good or bad not just bad. She makes Alice and Hatcher relatable, realistic and always growing.

Eating and reading, my two favorites. Homemade nachos with blue corn tortilla chips, last night's marinated chicken from burrito bowls, fresh pico, red sauce, sautéed bell peppers and lots of cheese.
