Annie Hartnett's first novel Rabbit Cake is magnificent. I couldn't put the book down except to savor the sharp wit and compelling story. I'm a psychotherapist and I howled in laughter each time there was a mention of DSM for Kids! and the inherent contradictions in scheduling a mourning period. It demonstrates the difficulties when a family has restrictions on their feelings and how the feelings get conveyed in other not so constructive ways.
