Currently starting my first adventure into a Sabrina comic book that‘s been on my TBR pile for weeks. The announcement of Kiernan Shipka as the new Sabrina in the dark Netflix series has me ready for this new take on my favorite 90‘s witch 😉

The New Year is here, and while I‘m not one for making resolutions, I am one for using the cold, snowy month of January as time to make my life cozier and to adopt a greater level of self care❤️ How do you get cozy in the winter?
#hygge
I love that Book of the Month is offering more early exclusives, like this one from the TBR list. Finally settling in to start it today! The book jacket is calling it “the must read thriller of 2018”!
Finally about to start this beauty tonight!
It‘s worth noting that the US edition is titled “The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hugo”
This book won‘t drop in the UK until Feb 2018 and in Sept. for US readers (get a copy earlier from Book Depository 😂) but mystery and time travel lovers should put it on your TBR list now. This book was a devilishly good mystery and a morality tale all in one, full off so many clever threads it was actually fun to lose track and let the mystery unfold. 5 stars
Why did I have to start reading this book during NaNoWriMo? It‘s devilishly good and I just can‘t stop reading!
This mystery is all about the long game and the payoff is soo devastatingly good.
This thriller is perfect for readers who like a hint of unreliable narration, and character history doled out in clever little morsels. 5 Stars
Looking for an eerie read for October? Try Night Film, both the book and the audiobook are a fun fall down an eerie rabbit hole!
The idea of someone not only impersonating me online but posting images of me and my family is a legitimately terrifying thought! More than any imagined monster. Enjoying this one so far!
I think today's the day I finally finish the newest TOG book! I'm enjoying it thus far, but I still have about 1/4 of the book left, which we all know means things can still go terribly awry for our lead characters!
UPDATE: I did finish and LOVED it. Another 5 star SJM for this reader!
Picked up a new book at Golden Hare Books in Edinburgh! My lack of posts has been due to adventure prep, and then the adventure itself, but I'm returning to the states soon, and with a few little goodies for my Litsy pen pals, @Yellowpigeon and @GinEyre22
So excited to be diving into Leigh Bardugo's version of Diana's life!
This book was full of major personal selling points: Magic, incredible relationships with animals, postcards, people who give instead of only taking, pancakes, bees.
The biggest selling point of all is the earnestness with which Ruth Emmie Lang presents her protagonist.
Full review on Goodreads.
Oooo I'm starting @ruthemmielang 's book today!

Currently reading the July pick for the YA Once Upon A Book Club box!
Interesting world so far...
This is one of the best books I've read this summer.
One of the few where I actually forgot that I was reading, I was so absorbed by the characters and all that was happening.
A beautiful story without all the gross sensationalism of modern celebrity. #bookofthemonth
This is a beautiful piece of literary fiction, full of the kind of writing, and a writer main character that will make you yearn to be a sitting behind your own typewriter. The book explores identity and the need to create in a uniquely beautiful way.
You can have cake for breakfast, right?
It's the last day of Treat Week for a bookstagram challenge and this hilarious and real book from Sue Perkins felt like the perfect book to pair with some bakes!
It's like the British version of "Yes Please"
There are a bunch of secondhand copies available from Amazon sellers and I highly recommend this lovely and comedic read. Ready, set, baaake! #booksandcake
Want to win an ARC of this book?
I've partnered with @flatironbooks to give away 5 copies! Check out my Instagram post (I'm caseyrosereads over there too!) for more details 😊

Pride, Prejudice, and Earl Grey Ice Cream!
It's practically the definition of summer romance 💖
Recipe is up on the blog!
I love the Spinster Club books by Holly Bourne! Friendship, mental health issues, feminism, and romantic relationships all play a big part in these books.
To go with the British girl working as a summer camp counselor in the states, I made s'more pops! All the fun of the summer treat, but none of the sticky mess while you read! 😊
You can create a cozy feeling all year long, even in summer, especially with a little reading nest and cat.

This book was lovely. A charming look at romance, and how we decide who we want to be, how much familial influence matters in that decision, and what we want to contribute to the world.
How about butterbeer muddy buddies as a summer treat?
My batch didn't come out entirely as planned but they're still incredibly delicious!

So excited to have joined the #litsypenpals fun! I haven't had a pen pal in ages and this feels like perfect summer fun!
It's Treat Week for the bookstagram challenge I'm cohosting this month with @deertales and I'm starting off with a frozen cocktail (perfect for summer) inspired by Caraval! The Carousel of Rosé.
The front of this book is popular, and adorable to boot, but how about this back cover?!
I hope the book models got this photo in one take!
So far I'm liking Dimple and her desire to be a smart independent gal 😊
I was initially interested in this book as winter lasts around 6 months where I live in Upstate NY, but there are great ways to live Hygge all year long.
Time to start playing catch up on Litsy for books I've read! (Especially the ones I've enjoyed)
This book has recorded a lot of mixed reviews, but I personally loved it. Strange and complicated with bouts of fantastic, it was an interesting world to be in.
I truly enjoyed this unique mystery set in a world where after a certain age people only remember either a day's worth of memories, or two day's worth if you happen to be one of the advantageous duos. Exploring a world with a limited memory is every bit as fun as trying to figure out whodunnit.
I'm intrigued and excited by the June pick for #litjoycrate!
And I loved turning the tea cup planter into a smiling face, bringing me joy every time I look at it!
Need to get away for a bit this summer? Try Miss Qiunzella Thiskwin Penniquiqul Thistle Crumpet's Camp for Hardcore Lady Types.
I love this comic series, and am now even a Monthly subscriber after enjoying the first four volumes so much. Empowered lady types, mystery, nice inclusion of some LGBTQIA themes and lots of the fantastical! (Like mermaids and yetis)
A thrilling read plus summer cherry hand pies equals a bloody good time 😉
Dubbed one of the hottest books of the summer, Final Girls delivers some questionable choices, fierce ladies, and few deliciously devious twists. Put it on your TBR today! #summerreads #thrillers
I loved this sequel to The Flight of the Silvers! While I was a little worried about how things were progressing and where things were going in the beginning, by the end I loved all the twists.

Happy 20th birthday to this world changing book! Sam is showing off his courage as he hugs my Gryffindor special edition!

Only a few pages in but just like with Mr. Penumbra, I'm intrigued!
I loved Evangeline as a main character and was rooting for her and her family in this bittersweet story of creating a life worth living in the face of tragedy.
This book was the May pick for the YA Once Upon A Book Club box, a full unboxing is available on TheJoyfulPen.com
This is the Circles of Change Book Club pick for June, and it's a compelling read for anyone who has struggled, or who is currently struggling with disordered eating. That being said, if you're still struggling or have yet to receive treatment, this book could be a triggering or difficult read. Told entirely in prose, this story captures the struggles of change and control, and how we become our own person.
I wanted to like this book more than I did because of how much I admire Krysten Ritter as a creative force. However, I never ended up connecting with the main character enough. Abby felt a little flat, like when someone mistakes a collection of flaws as being the same thing as being interesting. The mysteries of the story were more layered than I expected, but none of the payoffs felt as satisfying as I had hoped.
I truly enjoyed this smart little tale. More books should address the cultural issues like how boys are socialized different than girls, inclusion of transgendered children, and what it means to feel "other". There's both whimsy and horror in this book and I look forward to reading the other books I this universe.
Who else is guilty of owning books for years before finally getting around to reading them? 🙋🏻
This week's Top 10 Tuesday is all about series we mean to start reading. This is one that's on the top of my list!
This was a taut read, full on unreliable narration and uncomfortable ideas. I read it in a single day, staying up late to finish it, haunted by it before I fell asleep.
There are few characters that I adore as much as I do Flavia 💜 I can't recommend these books enough.
